Friends,
I ordered this guitar from LsL Instruments in L.A. several months ago and just received it this past week. Let me tell you the wait was worth it! This guitar exceeds all my expectations. The build is flawless, the fretwork PERFECT and the overall playability is just amazing. The tuning stability of the guitar is amazing, and this is saying something for a guitar with a Bigsby. Like many of you, I have owned more than a few high end guitars. For the last decade I have believed that builders like Don Grosh and Bill Collings had the market cornered on amazing instruments at much lower than "custom shop" prices from the major builders. Well, as of now, I am putting LsL into that category. This guitar is just amazing!
Except for the metal parts, the whole guitar is hand made. The neck is shaped by hand with a rasp/sander to my specs. IT'S PERFECT! The bigsby had the bottom of it scraped and sanded for a perfectly level finish so as to create a dead level fit to the body for added sustain and liveliness. The neck joint is as flush and tight as anything I have ever seen. The fit and finish are just flawless.
Also worth noting is that I had more than a few interactions directly with Lance Lerman during the build. He was terrific to work with and reminded me a lot of our own good Dr. with his attitude towards customers. I was antsy to get the guitar but they had a problem where the binding was oversanded. So did they just throw it together and ship it out? No! They started over to make it perfect.
Here are the specs: *Lightweight alder body *Super flamey maple neck *Rosewood board with natural dots *tall/narrow 6105 frets *Shelby Cobra Blue Metallic custom paint with racing stripes *Nitro cellulose non-aged finish *Double bound in white *Bigsby trem with graph-tech tune-a-matic bridge with string saver saddles *Powerton TV Jones pickups
I don't normally name guitars, but LsL does. So I asked if I could name it after my wife, hence the Mary Candice. The guitar (and the wife) are a little bit curvy, a little bit sporty and a little bit traditional. Seemed like a good fit.
FYI, I am not associated with LsL in any way. Just a happy customer. Maybe add them to your list of "go-to" suppliers the next time you are thinking about a new geetar.
Here are a few pics they sent to me:

That is a gorgeous guitar!
First time I have ever seen a guitar displayed on the arm of a Caterpillar Excavator, but the faded yellow gives it a cool backdrop.

I love my Saticoy - absolutely one of the finest strats I've ever had the pleasure to play.
I've never played a Grosh or a Crook, but I'm sure LsL measures up. Looking forward to comparison shopping someday, though!
Congrats, that's a beaut!
