Choosing between the two, it would have to be a Tele. I'm also a guy who keeps inadvertently hitting the volume knob when I play a Strat and knock it to zero. Even though I know I do it, I'm not aware when it is happening until the guitar goes dead. www.stewmac.com/Hardware_and_Parts/Knobs/Huggas.html

My only two electrics at this point are a tele with powertrons and a bigsby and a strat loaded with P90's. I don't think I am any help to you at all...

Hard to say. I love Teles and I have a few pretty good ones; nevertheless I never found the great one which I can hear in my head. But it was my S-style Music Man Cutlass, that blew me away!!! So I guess I have to say I'm a Strat-guy.

If the Reverend Eastsiders are considered Teles, then count me as a Tele guy. I actually have the T and S models but really love the T. I do own 6 other Teles and two Suhr Strats but the "T" style body without the body contour wins out for me.

I am down to two guitars....one Strat and one Tele. Both plain Jane Fender American Series. Strat is a 1990 and has balls! Tele is a 2013 with the body contour on the back. As a lefty...not a lot of options. I don't care about much other than tone.
Back against the wall...Tele every time.
Of course, the best answer is...both.

My first real guitar was a '69 strat I bought for dirt back when no one would touch anything that wasn't pre-CBS. I basically learned how to play on that guitar, and my hand is still shaped like the back of its neck, but ever since I got my first tele, I almost always play teles.

Wow - I hadn’t thought about the obsession with pre-CBS strats in a while.

I have both but play tele 80% of the time. For me strat is all about the neck pickup and the 2&4 quack. I cant do without that tele bridge pickup. I actually dont really play typical chicken picken country tele stuff. I think the telecaster bridge is the best rock and roll pickup ever. Has all the balls you need and a biting clarity that i love.

Strat thinner neck, more playable, more versatile tones. Tele fuller neck, killer bridge and neck pups.

Tele and a les paul are my go to guitars. But I really love my mim classic 60’s strat. I’ve done a bunch of tiny upgrades to the thing and it plays like a dream. So both

A brand new Strat back in 1975 was my first "real" guitar. Always had one around since. Fast forward 45 years when I started hanging around here. A few of you, particularly Mark N swayed me to give the Tele another look.
Now I love both and need both in my arsenal. Thanks Mark!!!
....ps....I have 3 Tele's. Trying to get it down to two....but haven't been able to yet!

I have multiples of each. Currently gig with a Tele in standard tuning and a Strat in open E, so the Tele gets more air time.

I have a Strat but I always come back to one of the Teles. The poor Les Paul gets very little play, gotta change that

Strat. I own four teles and two strats but that's mostly because I've found the two strats that do it for me after going through a whole bunch over the years. Gotta have a vibrato and love the 5 position switch. A Bigsby tele gets close.

I have owned four of each. For me, a Tele just doesn’t work unless you can turn it up and that seems to be fairly seldom (again, for me.) theStrat has 3 pickups, a 5-position switch and a vibrato bar, so there are a number of things I can do with it.
That all said, if I can only hold one guitar, I’d still prefer to play a Rickenbacker (360 or 370) for a gig. Have you all heard a Ric through a ZWreck? (My neighbors have.)
