Hey- just thought I’d see where you guys are at between these two iconic guitars? Doesn’t have to be fender brand.
I’m a strat guy- tried a tele but no contours for me hurts my ribs. Trading my tele for a strat tomorrow and am excited! My other electric is a warmoth strat style. And charvel gg strat style.
I dig tele looks, and may have one with contours in the future, but for now I’m happy going back to strat land.

Pretty much prefer the strat....I've had a few teles, but always seem to gravitate back to strat-land....

I like the looks of the strat but I don't like the bridge and location of the controls, personal preference. I love the 2 Tele's I have. One is a MIM Fender and the other is a G&L ASAT. my 2 cents, Todd

I grew up with a strat but have been a Tele guy since 2011. I still have one strat, a 91 strat plus, but it doesn’t feel as comfortable as my T styles guitars. The middle pickup on my strat now gets in my way and the controls are not as comfortable as my T’’s.
What I do miss about a strat is the neck pickup for that clean Clapton / Hendrix / Vaughan tone. I’m still able to get close with my Tele’s so it’s not that big of a deal. I even have one Tele with a Lollar Royal T (I think) and that neck pickup is designed to mimic a 60s strat. It actually does a fantastic job doing so.
When I play out there is too much of a mix between Country, Classic Rock and Blues for me to go without a T style guitar.
It seems to me that around here people know if a player is attempting country music on anything other than a Tele lol. Sounds crazy I know, but that’s how it is. The great thing about a T is that their awesome for classic rock and blues as well as country.

👆🏻 It’s funny how guitar straps get shorter as we get older. I thought it was just me! Great pics guys!

I have several Strats and only one Tele, so I guess there's the answer!

Strat.
Love teles, married to the strat.
YMMV, as always...

strat wins on this one for the expressiveness...there is that parallel uniververse tele/strat morph fenders offering?

I was a long time Les Paul player. When I was hitting 40, I saw a Fender American Custom Tele that I just loved. When I went to the shop to try one out, my friend had to go out to the warehouse to grab one. In the meantime I plugged a strat that was sitting there into the amp. I played a couple of notes and went "Wow! That's the iconic strat sound!". I did not bound with the tele when he brought it out. So, it's Strat for me! (Although, one of my favorite artists, Mr. Tab Benoit, plays the h*ll out of his Thinline Tele.)

I still have my two Stratocasters from the 90's. I tried a few les pauls, Teles, and a couple warrior guitars and I sold them all. I just feel the most comfortable with the strat. I am def a strat guy. It always gets the job done for me.

For decades I was a LP and 335 player. I did buy a strat in 1984. (still have the same one) I would go through phases where the strat got some use, but mostly it didn't.
A little over 10 years ago I bought my first tele. (I think I may have played one twice before that...and just for a few seconds) INSTANT BONDING. I like the fact it DOESN'T have the body cutaway. I prefer it. It makes it feel like a LP against my body.

I have a tele with contours, 3 single coils like a strat, and tele control placement. I could never get used to the volume knob on the strat, as it was always in the way and was getting turned down constantly, though some love it.

Deal is done! This strat looks identical minus age of jimis Woodstock White strat! Feels great!
I just was looking at jimis strat at the museum in Seattle last week. Funny how that works!

I'm a Strat man, but I love my other guitars including my '00 CS '63 Tele in Vintage white. I just don't use it that often as the Strats do what I need and they feel like home. I recently sold my '69 Tele to fund the purchase of my PRS DGT, which is a fabulous guitar. Mad I know, selling a guitar which has and will continue to appreciate in value, for one which will do the opposite, but I rarely played that Tele, and I've taken the DGT to more gigs in the few months I've owned it than I ever did with the Tele. I also found I prefer my CS model anyway, so it's all good!

I don't understand why anyone would play a strat when they could play a Tele. 😎

Yes. It's like picking your favorite child....
Seriously, I have two each Strat and Tele and a third Strat that has P-90s so maybe that's the tiebreaker. I grew up on a Strat but love the Tele. Really depends on what I want on a song- quack or twang. Glass or bite. I don't care for body contours on a tele. I had a top shelf burst tele with binding and back contour and it didn't do it for me. I prefer a slab bodied Tele. As Leo intended so it should be.

I love the simplicity of a Tele but I also love the 2 and 5 positions on a Strat. LOVE. That said, both of my Teles are loaded with humbuckers, because what I really love is the compression and fatitude I get from a Les Paul.

I've tried to bond with Teles many times but they just don't bake my cake. I'm a Strat guy for single coils.

Choosing between the two, it would have to be a Tele. I'm also a guy who keeps inadvertently hitting the volume knob when I play a Strat and knock it to zero. Even though I know I do it, I'm not aware when it is happening until the guitar goes dead.
