My new Maz 8 takes four different kinds of 12AX7 preamp tubes: V1 = ECC83S V2 = 12AX7 V4 = 12AX7/ECC83 V5 = Sovtek 12AX7LPS (Phase Inverter)
First, what’s the difference between an ECC83S and a ECC83? Second, how does a 12AX7 differ from an ECC83S or a ECC83? Third, what is a 12AX7LPS?

ECC83S has a spiral wound filament that is supposed to reduce noise. ECC83 is the European designation for 12AX7. 12AX7LPS is a spiral wound filament with longer plates - usually used in phase inverter positions. All of these are readily available in mew production from a variety of vendors.

Somewhat related. I have a variety of 12AX7 from over the years. I know in some of my other el84 based amps I've had in the past there would typically be one preamp section that responded the most from changing the brand of tube. Any experience with the Maz 18, is there one position with the 12AX7 that will bring a greater variety if I rotate through some of my tubes?

V1 will have the most impact with V2 being second. From there changes do have an effect but minimal.
