I had some alone time in the music room today so I decided to bypass my Brake Lite and poke at the beast with a stick to see how it would react. Needless to say this amp is smooth and loud. Crazy thing is, it’s not a loud that hurts because it’s so pleasant. To protect my hearing I didn’t do it very long, just long enough to make it mad.
I’m really curious as to ZW user settings (generally) for playing out. It’s hard to find a setting thread on the Wreck. I’m using a Crook T and ended up brighter than most might go...V-10:30, T-noon to 1, B-9:00 and Cut at 3:00 to all the way up. I went this bright to get a more clear sound from my APC neck pup.
Are these settings unheard of with a Tele? Please share some Tele setting!

Well, I've only had mine for about a month so I'm still learning the amp. The tone controls are, as you no doubt are finding out, very interactive. I'm gigging mine again at church this morning and I'll be using a Power Station to control the volume, but with mini humbuckers I'm at Cut: 2:00, Bass: 10:00, Treble: 2:30, Volume: 11:30. The Power Station switches are all set "flat" and I have a little boost on the highs, around 9:30. I'll post again after services, and see if I changed anything onstage. Love this amp!

Your settings are pretty much what I set my Z Wreck as well. Bass is about 10-11:00. I set for fullness and back it off when it gets too boomy. Treble is set at 1:00 just so it cuts. Volume is between 10-2:00 depending on how much gain I want. I use the Speed setting on the back most of the time. It’s a great amp. Glad you are enjoying yours.

I am hearing “speed” setting quite a bit. I am planning to have the “comfort” setting made permanent with the 1/2 power mode. I want a vintage feel. Am I making the wrong choice? Do you guys have “issues” with the way the amp acts in “comfort” mode?

Personally I decided upon the Brake Lite and couldn’t be happier with that choice. I’m using the Brake in #2 mode alone at home and will probablyneed to dial back to #1 with a drummer. IMO speed and comfort are more about feel than tone. Yes, I can detect a hair’s difference in tone between the two (speed and comfort), but my wife can’t and a buddy of mine can’t. I’m not sure what kind of player you are but as for me, I like the notes to be immediate if that makes sense. That’s why I like speed. I can actually see myself using comfort for a few songs in a set list but not for many for sure.

I haven't had mine long enough to be comfortable boxing myself into one setting, so I'm glad I went with the Power Station (the Wreck also sounds great with the Brake Lite). I tend to prefer the Comfort setting. I was going to try the Speed option this morning...and I forgot! Oh, and after getting set up I didn't touch the amp's controls, or the setting on the PS. I just dialed the volume down a bit on the PS and let 'er rip. And rip it did, sweet sounds where I needed them and then I hit it with the Clarksdale into a Euphoria for one over the top lead that was so much fun! Thing is, it's pretty hard to get anything but a great tone from the Wreck. I do want to try the Speed setting at a gig though. I've always played Comfort so far, and it usually just slips my mind.

I set mine on “comfort” when I got it. It sounds so good that it seems almost impossible to do better. I occasionally danble with the “speed” setting, but, in general, I can’t get a better single coil sound than the ZWreck.
Today I played some dirty stuff with an ES-335 through my attenuated DB4. That was really nice, too.

I've got a crook T as well. My goto setting on the wreck (1/2 power) is Volume 12:30, Treble 2:30, Bass just below noon and cut at 2:30. Killer cruchy cleanish tele tone. Think Brad Paisley on "listening to old alabama" tone.

It feels great too, very reactive.

I know this is an old post, but I came across a Rig Rundown of Brad Paisley's amps and it had several shots of his Wrecks and their settings. I thought Brad Paisley Z wreck fans might appreciate it.

Treble and Cut around 12:00 and Bass at 9:30-10:00 is working great for me. Volume around 10:00-11:00, Brake Lite at 1 to 3. Playing with speakers today too. I had pulled my Gold out (it's in my Maz 18NR) and I put a Z12 in there today. Very nice tone, I was kind of surprised. And the Z12 didn't get loose or lose it when I hit it with overdrive or had the volume up around 2:30. I'm going to leave it in for a while.

If I was using the Wreck for more of classic rock thing, I would probably play it mostly on comfort.
