DR Pure Blues 10-46 on all the electrics. On the acoustics it’s DR Rare Phosphor Bronze medium (12-54). I used to only play Guild Phosphor Bronze acoustics but they quit making them. Those were awesome strings. I really like all the DRs I’ve played, but landed on the Pure Blues for electric. Had played a dozen or so sets of their Lite n’Heavy that are 9 11 16 26 36 46. Those were a bit easier to play but the tone of the Mediums was just much better - particularly for rhythm - and your fingers get used to them pretty quickly.

10 - 46 on my Strat 10 -52 on Heritage 535 / Guild bluesbird 12 - ? flat wound on custom jazz gtr
Thinking of using pure nickel strings on my Strat to knock down some brightness and gain a little organic-ness...

Updated. Noticed some pain after doing some 1.5 whole step bends and targeted bends to various notes on 10s. Think I will try 9 to 46 for a while. I was using 10s and before that 11s. Guess I gotta build back up my hand strength.

No shame there, buddy! I've heard the the Rev Billy G even uses 7s now and then. I tried a set just for fun and they were so loose I couldn't play them. 9s for me.

I've been using 10's and 11's for along time. I tried the 10.5's and those are nice too.

I'm wondering if you tune down 1/2 step
what does that equate in string size
do 10's go to 9.5's or a full size to 9/s
anyone got thoughts experience

For a long time, I've been 10-46 on 25.5 scale stuff, and 11-48 on anything shorter. But recently, I put 10s on my Kauer, which is a Gibson scale length, and I love it. Tried the same on my Collings, and switched back to 11s after about 10 minutes.
So, for the current stable,
The Strat, Grosh Tele, Grosh EJ and Kauer get .10's The DGT and I35lc get .11s.
I find the string tension to be about equal on all my guitars this way. (although the Kauer is a bit slinkier now with .10s)

Was 10’s or 11’s forever but now it’s 9-42 D’ Addarios.
Used to worry about tone loss but then I realized that tone truly is in the fingers and the slightly lighter strings helped me to be more aggressive with my hands and that more than makes up for the lighter gauge. At least for me it works...
