Your self diagnosis is evident...pretty sure we all have one or two were addicted to...I know I have mine!

What pedals? I just see the guitar.

I don't see much evidence of addiction. I DO see a sweet rig.

“My name is Dave and I’m a pedal addict.” Lots of worse things out there to latch on to. Enjoy it!

I am guessing your laundry detergent is Gain as well! Nice pedal board, Dave!

My problem with the overdrive pedals is I keep buying them. Then I keep going back to the straight overdriven sound of the amp finding that to be more satisfying. But that usually equates to more volume. I think I counted at least nine or ten in possession. And my eye was caught by the RYRA Klon on BST. That doesn't count boost pedals like RC. I currently am only using one OD at church and contemplating removing it in favor of another time based pedal. Addiction what addiction?
I was thinking there might be a CURE or Z-PLUS for this disease of mine.

You guys are great, thanks for the responses...I'm still crackin' up! And the guitar. That Firebird is one great playing Gibson, fellas...my sweet late wife Sue got me that for my 65th B-Day last September, it's my #1 go-to. I can't believe that I waited all these years before getting one, and why they aren't more popular is a good question. It's a 2017, and it sounds and plays fantastic. I was surprised when I opened up the control cavity and saw hand wired, full size pots in there instead of the new PC boards. Gibson got this one right.

We all have an addiction of some sort. OD pedals are rather benign.

Hey--I don't see a problem there. More flavors is more better, if that's what you like. I've pretty much settled on two favorites for now, that seem to bond well with all of my amp/guitar combinations--the Wampler Velvet Fuzz and the Jetter GS-124. I keep trying new ones, and what I've concluded is that the dirt itself all sounds more or less alike within two basic camps--hard clipping and soft clipping (TS vs Rat, say). Beyond that the differences are in things like pot tapers, bottom end, rounded highs vs spiky highs, mid focus/hump (upper vs lower), clarity/transparency, open vs. nasal tone quality, and relative compression. I have preferences for all of these things, which Velvet Fuzz and the 124 pretty much nail. Give me those two pedals, a clean boost and a tape-style delay (something with a slow-ish attack) and I'm good to go for most gigs. Maybe add trem, phaser and a wah if I want to lug my "big" board.

That board looks like a lot of fun.... nothing wrong with that setup! I used to go through OD’s like a mad man. I’ve finally settled down (I think). Down to 3 now.

Oh, I'd say it's just a passion, Dave. Not an addiction. (I'm guilty either way ; afraid to count the number in my possession.)

I feel pretty under-gunned here.... I've only got 3 ODs on my board, a big box full of random stomps with 3 more ODs in it, and another OD Jester (thatstatuemoved) sent me last week.... Time to hoard get more....

I think ya nailed it, Lee. I use a pedal hoard, not a pedal board.

Love that 'bird Dave! You know I have it's older sis....a RI from 2001.....looks just like yours.
As for the OD's, I only use 2 on the gig, but I have bought/sold SO MANY I've lost count, so I'm guilty as well. I do have a small stash that I've decided to hold onto, at least for now. Those include KOT, POT (2), BB Preamp, etc. and the ones I use live; Boss Blues Driver w Keeley and J Rockett Rockaway.

Playing Dr. Z amps pretty much cured my addiction. I love the drive tones I get from the Remedy, Z-Lux or the Wreck and my go to drive sounds are now the amp itself.

I've got over 100 dirt pedals in my collection. I've yet to find someone who has it worse than I do.

I virtually always prefer the sounds I can get from just an amp, yet I own more pedals than I could have ever imagined. Lots of distortion and boost pedals just this year.

It's only an addiction if it's keeping you from paying the bills. otherwise, it's just an infatuation! (lol)
