Contemplating buying the new Maz 18 Mk II combo with reverb. I would really prefer the size of the Studio 1 x 12" combo over the regular size. Is there really much difference in sound? I play in a classic rock cover band. We do Tom Petty, John Cougar, ZZ Top, Stones, Beatles, etc..etc. I play a Music Man Albert Lee with Twin Humbuckers, and an Axis Super Sport with twin humbuckers. Will probably use a delay in the loop, and a couple drive pedals. Can anyone comment on the sound of the two different size combos? Thanks,

Been a lot of hubbub here about this...the reg cab has more throw in my experience...if your playing some venues that are not so small...wow it has it covered...the studio has the medium to smaller club thing nailed...im just getting older and studio a little easier on the bones...new lite cab is nice and really makes a difference though.
My advice...have both (lol)...cause...your going to (want) have two Z's anyways...

The larger cab has more low-mids. No way around that. If you rely on the amp to fill the stage without any help from monitors you're going to appreciate that. If you mic things and fold back a little you could probably use a Studio cab and not miss having a larger cab. There's not enough difference in weight to matter for me.

I have a Maz 8 in the Studio cabinet. I used to have a Maz 18 NR in the regular 1-12 cabinet, but it was too heavy (60+ lbs). I sold it last summer.
I really love the studio cabinet. My Cure is in one too and it’s 15+ watts. I think you will be happy with it too. I play my Cure all over, inside and outside and never have had a problem not being heard. If I ever get another Maz 18, I will get the studio cabinet.

They sound 100% exactly the same with a microphone on them.

I do like the ultralight standard size cab's fatness over the studio cab, if I'm not mic'd up. But Roscoe's right on here, put a mic on it and you won't know the dif.
