this is my band doing a featured set at a local open mic. There was a nice crowd and we had fun but i was not playing my best so watch out. oh, well. .. too old to care.
p.s. if you're so inclined, hit the "like" button on youtube. The show was video taped by a guy who does a local contest for charity and You'll be voting on our video to try to get us another gig in the finals of the competitiion.

Certainly looks like you having fun Ian, as well as your partners in tone! I'm more intrigued by your dexterity and flexibility - unless your knees were actually giving out on you! "Sing on brother - play on drummer!"

Is this an older video, or did you let your hair grow back out?

Knees are good... body is usually pretty sore the day after a gig, though. Grew my hair out last year....

Very enjoyable. Nice group of musicians. I particularly liked the tune before going down. (At least I think that was the one) heard you channeling a little John Scofield. Very nice.

I liked that ! Thanks, BTW , what is the title of the Sco tune? Nice choice Thanks Frankie. The Sco tune is "Hottentot". I believe it's off his album A Go-go. Here's a live version i was present for: check out the amazing scofield coda starting at 10:35.

Dammmm how'd I miss this? Love the second tune, Ian....and "Going Down" I've played that song many times with different bands and felt I never got it "right." Sounded great with you guys! Enjoyable half hour!

I don't hit this section of the forum very often so I never saw this until now. Very cool band, cool tunes, great musicians, great playing, great tone! Looks and sounds like a blast! I'd love to be in a trio like this - in fact I was talking to a bass player buddy not long ago about doing something along these lines. Sadly there would be few gig opportunities in these parts.
Well done!
This clip only contributes to my wanting a Ghia. I've had a number of other Z's and I've wandered over the fence in recent years. When I do come back to the Z fold - and I have a feeling I will - it's gonna be a Ghia.

If you dont mind me asking - what is the chromatic chord "walk-down" progression in Hottentot?

Our last gig was in June. My dad got sick and passed in July and i barely touched a guitar the entire month. The band had two practices between June and September.
Last Monday I realized i had some type of "tennis elbow" in my left arm and playing guitar for 15 minutes made it burn and ache.
Tuesday we got asked to play a gig on Thursday night... so, we took it and had a paid rehearsal. The arm did alright but was sore like crazy all weekend. Now that i've explained all excuses for why i may have forgot lyrics, sang or played the wrong note, plain old screwed the pooch, etc, etc.... here's the first of two sets recorded on an android cell phone (which in no way does justice to the sound of the ghia live). too bad we didn't record the second set because i think i really nailed a couple of the more fun tunes... oh, well... here's the ghia in action some more... Also Sprach Zarathustra (abbreviated) Cissy Strut Shape I'm In Black Magic Woman + jam Mercy, Mercy, Mercy The Chicken BAT (original) Going Down -> Whole Lotta Love jam Tweaker (original)
