I've used my original Rx the past two weeks playing out hard rock/90's rock...Alice in chains, STP, pearl jam, soundgarden, ect. This amp never ceases to amaze. I also use it in a country band and a 70's rock/southern rock band. It's perfect for anything. It can be very clean and it also gets dirty enough to play hard rock without an overdrive. I've had many DR Z amps and really liked/loved them all. MAZ's, SRZ, Galaxie (that I still have, thanks again Steve!), another original Rx that I foolishly sold, and a Z-wreck and to me the original Prescription tops them all. This is certainly my favorite DR Z amp. It seems there are many who have never had the opportunity to hear or play through an original Rx and they're sadly missing out! If any Z brothers who are unfamiliar with this amp ever venture into Northwest Ohio and would like to give it a spin and experience the magic of the original Rx feel free to hit me up. I'm sure we could also book a prescription fest at Mike's in Ann Arbor...he has 4 of them! I'm done boasting about my amp now. Rock on Brothers!

They really are great sounding amps! I think I'm gonna try and corner the market on them before people realize how great they sound and how versatile they are!

I also really loved the original RX. It was my philosophical take on the Trainwreck amp design. Not a copy of a TW, but an attempt to reproduce the simple driving tones of the TW's. I even sent one to Ken Fischer ,got his blessing and little TW tweak.
Huh, maybe a Limited run of them would be in order, built in Brake Lite and a 1x12 Creamback in an Ultra Lite cab. Rock-n-Roll grab and go. Oh yeah I mustn't forget the Effects Loop, oh my.......

I have the head version. For country I run it through a Z open back 2x12 with a 65 and a WGS veteran 30 and at 9 o'clock you can achieve a very Paisleyesque tone with the tele. For the rock it goes through 1 or 2 Z-best cabs with greenbacks. the sound is very big and very beautiful!

And yeah, an onboard BL would really help the loudness thing...

Oh yeah I mustn't forget the Effects Loop, oh my....... Z Lol....point taken. You'll hear no other mention of a loop here 😊😎 The original RX always intrigued me. One came up for sale in Canada a couple months back. Being 20 years old I didn't buy it. If I could have easily sent it back to the Z shop for a check up I may have been tempted. A limited run should be pretty popular 😎 Did I read somewhere that Ken F had a lot of positive comments on the RX when reviewed? Not sure where I read that.

I used the original RX on a lot of the Steve Earle records that I played on. Ray Kennedy has a nice one at his studio Room & Board.

I bought mine in 98, a blondie and I always thought the original rx had a tad of trainwreck DNA. Cool to hear Doc confirm my suspicions. It'll make a player out of you, it doesn't tolerate slop. Want to hear something special? Stick in a matched quad of old stock miniwatts...magic.
"rock and roll grab and go" sure don't apply to mine. It gives a twin a run for the money for heft.

I hadn't used my Rx for a while. Recently I have been using another amp for gigging. So I am thinking maybe I should sell/trade it and try something else. Well, I brought it to my gig this past Friday and I will not be getting rid of my Rx.
Mine is a blonde 1x12 combo. I believe it originally started as a 2x12 combo (I have the empty 2x12 combo cab). My band plays classic rock, R&B, etc. (i.e. Stones, Zepplin, Stevie Wonder, Elvis Costello, Pretenders, and a bunch of others). We play mostly medium and small rooms, usually unmiked. This amp just sits in the mix so nicely and cuts through without being overwhelming. It sounds great straight in and takes pedals well. It adds a little rock & roll edge to whatever it does.
