What’s your favorite pickup choice for a HSH strat for classic rock? I play in a band that does covers so I need the pickups to be pretty versatile and cover traditional strat sounds as well as more humbucker-ish rock sounds.
I was looking at going with SD’s Little 59 in the bridge and neck with a vintage staggered RWRP in the middle. Whatever humbuckers I choose, I’d like to be able to coil-tap them.
What do you guys like? What should I check out?

Why HSH? My experience with classic rock never required a neck humbucker that much. I think that is why the HSS configuration is so popular. I'm a big fan of the Li'l 59 also.

I was thinking about HSS but I’d really like the neck position to not have any hum and have the versatility to be either single coil or humbucker.

I threw some P-90s in the neck and bridge position of my strat with a strat pickup in the middle (all lollar, but you could do Fralin no hum P90s) and it does the Ryan Adams/Tom Petty thing really well. I'm going to re wire it this week with an S-1 switch so that it will do the normal strat positions in addition to bridge+middle (series/humbucker), neck+middle (series/humbucker), plus all three pickups and neck+bridge (series/humbucker) and neck+bridge (parallel).

Seymor Duncan sh3 - The only humbucker that can be a true single coil when tapped.
I prefer ssh myself- I use mojotone quiet coils ‘58 no hum. And 59’ humbucker in the bridge.
There are a few noiseless pickups out there that sound fantastic- And no hum!
