hi all - I've had an up and down with my Maz 18NR and find that the higher output single coils seem to fit the amp better? For example, i have a lollar 52 tele bridge (esquire) and just can't get it to feel like a good fit. Higher output pickups (63 Tele pickup Fender re-issue) seem to get there... anyone have similar experience or ideas?

I'm guessing that you already use the low and high inputs to taste?

Also, you could put a clean boost in your signal chain to boost the lower wind pickups as needed.

And have experimented with pickup height? Yup, crank that pickup higher!!! Then, use the tone knob.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll try that pickup height first (it's free)

Add another recommendation for a clean boost on weaker single coils. This also allows me to roll back guitar volume considerably and use it to apply different shades of grind and oomph.

Update - Thanks all for the suggestions. I raised the pickup a little more (there was not much more room) and it really seemed to make a big difference--pow! I also used the volume part of a Paisley drive as a pseudo clean boost and it was not as good for me. I may be outside the norm here, but I am more of a straight into amp kinda guy.

I kind of agree. I love P90 style pickups, the trick (this is just an opinion) Is to spend some time getting the height right for the tone/feel your after and use the volume of the guitar for different shades of gain or clean. For starters I use the two nickel approach. Two under the bass stein and one under the treble string with both strings pressed down at the last fret, then go from there.
