i recently acquired a maz 18 nr head and it has a footswitch jack on the back panel. I have no idea what that is for and what kind of foot switch would work there. Thanks for any advice.

Thanks--I think you are correct. Plugged a foot switch in and huge increase in volume. i will read up on that mod. Thank you.

A footswitch with a level control pot will make it MUCH more usable!

A lot of us opted to not use the EQ bypass because it was such a volume boost above the normal settings. The VARIABLE boost switch fixed that. You really should get one.

Have a boost foot switch that came with my z-lux, but darned it if does not have the variable volume control.

It's also pretty easy to add a variable control pot to one of those.

Have a boost foot switch that came with my z-lux, but darned it if does not have the variable volume control. Yeah, mine too. Doc added the variable boost sometime after he introduced the bypass feature. As mentioned, definitely worth doing the mod or buying one of the new foot switches from Z.

Question. If you use the bypass footswitch fo you still use or need overdrive pedals or will the switch take care of that? Or if using both would it be too much boost/overdrive?
