Curious if anyone here has pulled the trigger on one yet?

After watching this it seems it's well thought out.

I will go check one when it becomes available locally. If it lives up to all of the hype, I may, MAY, consider getting one. I've been looking for a good Strat for some time. Grosh still leads the way.

Even though my local shop is a prs dealer, I doubt they’ll order one unless someone asks for it. Too much overlap with the fender line.

^^^ If I was a dealer I'd have a couple just because everybody is talking about them. I know I'd like to try one - but I don't think we have a local prs dealer anymore...

After watching this it seems it's well thought out. I’d like to try one at least. (Of course, John Mayer could make anything sound good!)

After watching this it seems it's well thought out. that’s actually a great demo once I tuned the 60cyl hum outta my head. I really like how he goes through each element of the guitar in Lehman’s terms. Before watching the vid I checked the specs out and saw that it was 7.25 radius all the way down. John explained his take on radius in simple man’s terms and it makes sense...just still not sure how low the action can go on this PRS with 7.25 before fretting out. That’s one thing that wasn’t talked about, but I’m sure a credible company like PRS and a fabulous musician like John Mayer didn’t design a guitar that frets out so easily. I have a feeling the silver sky will do well.

Still trying to make it out to PRS as they are only about an hour away - would love to play one just to see what it is like!

Peach is Doc's UK dealer. I'm probably not a customer for this guitar as I have several Strats -- more than I probably should have

Peach is Doc's UK dealer. I'm probably not a customer for this guitar as I have several Strats -- more than I probably should have I wasn't impressed with this video as he kept changing amps with guitars which was very confusing, then almost at the end he comes back on and says same amp same peddles same settings, then I heard the dramatic differences. The PRS has a sterile kinda of tone very subdued compared to the 63 Strat, for my ears i prefer the strat tones hands down. The PRS doesn't sound like a strat perhaps that was the goal, I want my strat to sound like a strat sorry.

^^ I completely agree Stan. I couldn’t make heads or tails with the amp switching and everything else. I think a true “shootout” or demo, or pickup demo should be done with one amp. Also, personally I prefer simple or slow playing licks for demo work if that makes sense to anybody. This is only so I can really soak in the tone of the instrument for comparison.
Some of the best demos I’ve seen online were players who were simple and slow. I love Roger Hoard’s demo vids because he’s not throwing out dynamite and, from what I gather, he’s not switching amps and kicking pedals around. Now granted, Mr. Hoard is certainly capable of showing off but he doesn’t do that for demos. This makes it easy to determine as best as possible what the subject guitar sounds like.
Sorry if I derailed the topic! That’s not my intention.

In all fairness, John's video is comparing Mayer's old riig to his new choice of gear, not really comparing the Silver Sky to a Strat.
I actually prefer the Sky through the J-Mod than the Strat through the Two Rock. I have a feeling I'd like the sound of the Sky over the Strat as well. However, to me that's simply due to the style of pups. I like the rounded sound do the Sky that I have heard here and in other videos.
Man, I think a Sky and Z-Plus would be a great pair.

I watched one of JM's little -- apparently self-made with a phone -- videos discussing the guitar. In addition to playing some great licks, he provided what I thought was a very thorough and sound explanation of the guitar's evolution. I inferred, perhaps incorrectly, that he does not have an endorsement deal with PRS. It's more a collaboration of two like-minded guitar enthusiasts.
I have to say it upped my interest in trying this model.

More on this from Paul Reed Smith himself. I still am amazed at the positive and negative buzz about it.

The more I hear the clips the more I'm inclined to get one.
The colours aren't really funky enough for me yet, though. Maybe version 2 will be better on that front.

PRS did a much better job describing and playing this guitar than Mayer, I thought
I'll take one if I can get Bald Eagle Inlays :>)
