For my M12. Can I get the 15 ohm version and run in 16 ohm jack or stick with the 8ohm for safety?
If I want to use them with my Route 66 will a pair at 30 watts handle the 32 watts of the amp?

I would say yes and yes - but if anyone has contrary information let me know

Pretty sure my MAZ 8's blue is "15 ohms" and came from the factory plugged into the 16-ohm jack. Amp is living elsewhere, so I can't check. Sorry.
You might want to check with the Z team on using two with a 66. I think Doc does his power rating before clipping, so the amp may actually deliver something higher. As a point of reference Doc chose to use a Gold and Blue with the original Z Wreck, which is rated at 30 watts. On the other hand, two Blues are in the DB4 "Bluesbreaker" combo, and that amp is rated at 38 watts in full power mode. Bottom line: check with the shop.

I agree with yes & yes. I'm only 99.99% sure about the 15 vs 16 ohm question but from what I've read you should be fine. I'm sure about the wattage question. 2 30 watt speakers can handle 60 watts of power. ( 2 X 30 = 60) That's what they can handle safely but you'll never get more than 30 watts out of the pair because each one is still a 30 watt speaker.

An advertised one ohm mismatch is absolutely NOT an issue. In fact, all speakers are mismatched to all amplifiers at some level. Hundreds of variables to consider here....

Note that all impedance ratings are stated as being "nominal". And it all depends on how hard you run the amp. If you run it clean and without much clipping you'll be fine. C-Blues are rated a little conservatively. If you push the amp into clipping it will put out considerably more than what it is rated and all bets are off.

The requisite load is normally +/- 50% so you’re good. The load does vary with frequency and amplitude, but you’re good to go.

Blues are rated at 15 watts so two covers 30 watts. I would occasionally push the route to max but never run it for extended periods of time. i currently have a 50 watt rated alnico Weber Blue Dog. Will I notice a significant increase in chime with the C Blue or am I at the point of diminishing returns?

Or might I get more chime from a single celestian gold?

15 ohm is fine. I use a 15 ohm gold, no trouble in my maz jr before I let it go

I'm kind of thinking you already have a Weber Blue Dog....a speaker that's clearly in the Gold category.
I don't know how much 'better' a blue or gold will sound. Yes, I think you are entering diminishing returns.
The whole line of Route 66, KT-45 and M12 are not known as chimey amps. (Perhaps the M12 is a bit more chimey than the other two because of the el84s)

I tried a ceramic weber blue. It was way darker than any of the alnico celestions.

I find the KT pretty chimey too, about in the middle of the 3 amps. Maybe since I spent most of my life seeking that "Marshall" tone I really don't even know what playing through a chimey amp really means ;-)
