Hi fellas, I just got this installed on my pedal board and first impressions are I'm loving it. It has two different distortion circuits in one box, an Angry Charlie from JHS and the Boss Blues Driver BD-2. Each circuit has volume, tone, drive controls plus a switch to pick 6 different modes: Boss, JHS, Boss into JHS, JHS into Boss, Parallel, and finally a mode that lets you pick either drive. You need an external switch to turn the distortion off or on when in that mode. It really sounds good. And it cleans up beautifully with the guitar volume. With both drives cranked and running in series it gets noisy, as you would expect two stacked distortions to be. I really like the parallel setting so far, I have only had about 15 minutes to play with it, and I've gotta get to rehearsal. Right off the bat, I really like it so far. I'll post more if I find anything that is worthy of mention, but it's a cool new offering from Boss.

I've seen a few videos on this and it does look interesting Dave. Combining two very popular OD's in one pedal is a cool idea. I can't seem to kick a BD-2 (Keeley mod) off my board no matter what I try!

Do you have an update for us on how you like and use the pedal?

I haven't had it out of the house yet, rehearsal got cancelled this week. But it's got great potential. Lots of different sounds/combinations in this box. I like it so far, but time will tell. More to come once I get it out in the real world.

I started watching YouTube reviews on it after reading this thread and it sounds like what I need with my new band. I love Boss pedals and I use a Boss BCB-60 pedalboard, so I ordered one. I have a Blues Driver on it now and sometimes it is not dirty enough.

Things can really go over the top with that combination, but there really are useable sounds there. Setting the BD2 up driving the JB2 is cool when the JB2 is set up either in parallel or JHS-BOSS. Then you've got BD2-JHS-BD2, and if you're careful with the gain and tone it's not too noisy and sounds cool. It's a cool pedal and just when I think I have it figured out I find another sound in it. Fun and useful.

Gigged the JB-2 at church this morning and it was a hit. Nice, sweet yet nicely aggressive tones in there. I stayed on the Boss into the JHS setting and had both the drives gain at 10:30, the tone at 11:00 for the JHS side, 1:30 for the Boss side. Level was down around 9:30 for both sides. I was really happy with the way that setup made my Therapy rock. I've got my old Blues Driver in front of this pedal and I hit it once for a little extra kick. Worked great, and it's set volume at 10:30, tone at 12:00, and gain at 11:00.
This pedal gets WAY dirtier than just the BD2 does, and in a good way.

I got mine yesterday and took it to rehearsal. I picked it up at the UPS store on the way. I didn’t have time to experiment so I left all knobs at noon and put it on the Boss/JHS setting. I left it on blue (Boss) and used the guitar volume for girth and switched it to red (JHS) when I needed more. I’ll check out your settings, Dave.

Hope it works out for you, Stephen. I like mine, I'm sure there are tones that I haven't found yet. Let me know what you come up with, okay?

I own one as well.
I keep it on a Pedaltrain nano along with a Waza Boss Tuner (with the buffer) an old, Keeley modded CE-2 and original DM-3. It is powered with a Volto 2 and although I could use it for all gigs, I usually bring it to jams, rehearsals, etc.
This past Saturday I brought it with me to a jam at a local club. As it turns out, it was pretty low volume, so I set up my MAZ18 a bit cleaner and softer and used the always on setting which toggles between the JHS and Boss pedals. Worked like a charm and I received a ton of praise on the tone from many of the local musicians in attendance.
Highly recommended!

I like the stuff I’m getting out of it, but it sure makes my Z-Lux hum. Does anyone else experience that?

I haven't had any hum problems. What kind of power supply are you using, Stephen? It can get noisy with the two pedals stacked, especially with the JHS into the BD2 when they're both cranked. But that's to be expected when we drive two high gain pedals together and crank them. I found it's easy to go beyond the amount of drive that I need to get a certain tone. Try getting your sound and then backing the drive off on one or both sides of the pedal and see if that helps. I found times when I could get the same sound with less drive... It's capable of huge levels of drive, and that's going to bring out any hum, hiss, or any noise that's lurking in the signal chain. Also, is it just with your Z-Lux that you're getting the hum?

Thank you. I used it with my Z-Lux at our gig last night and it worked great! I was running the drive way too high.
I found a YouTube video on it from “That Pedal Show.” They explained how Andy Timmons uses a BD-2 and an Angry Charlie. I didn’t run it like he does, but knowing how he uses those two pedals helped me understand how it works.
Here’s what worked for me. I ran the Z-Lux with the volume max and master to room. I set the pedal to JHS/Boss. I set up the Boss side at “edge of break-up” (L=10, D=10) and left it on all night. I set the JHS side up for dirt (D=10, 12). I used my Clapton Stratocaster and my PRS MC-58 with similar results.
Thanks again for starting this post, Dave. It was just what my board needed.

Very cool, Stephen, I'm happy to have been of help. I dig it too, lots of tones in there, for sure. I'll have to try your settings out.

Here is an update on my settings; Level=10,10 and Drive=10,10. The tone depends on the guitar and amp I am using, but it stays around noon. The mode I am using is J>B. I am also using a Boss FS-5L to switch from B to J>B.
The Boss side stays on all the time and gets hit with the JHS side for extra dirt. The level is a little above unity and the drive is low enough so the pedal is not too noisy.
