Hey all,
Curious to get some input on this. Looking for a combo for traditional country (Marty Stuart type tone). How twangy is the cure? I had a z28 and it was too mid focused for the traditional stuff. Will the cure do the sweet scooped fender princeton tone?
Thanks!

I have found the cure with a Tele is heaven on earth. I turn the mids all the way off and season the treble and bass to taste.
I also use the Cure with PRS CE22 and cop some early country tones.
They are in there.

Yes, the Cure can indeed do the blackface thang if you dial in the tone stack. GREAT amp!

Every time I see this thread title I take it differently for some reason. I did the same thing twice today.

The mids knob really shapes the character of the amp. all the way down is more of a blackface tone and mid way up its more in the tweed vein. I have usually ran a boss dm-2 with light slapback almost as a preamp with my fenders and this amp is warm enough that its really redundant.

The cure should fall in line with your Z-lux. (just not as loud) Same preamp. same power tubes...just not as many of them.

They are similar and do share a lot, but they feel different. I think it's mostly because the Z-Lux has a solid state rectifier where the Cure is a tube rectifier. So it's got a stiffer, more immediate feel to it than the Cure. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the Z-Lux feels like a bigger, ballsier amp, even at half power. Part of that is the cab size too. The Cure has great tone and versatility. It's never let me down on the gig. And I have to add that I love both amps! I wouldn't want to sell either of them.
