I finally had a chance to play my new DB4 head. I liked it a lot with the CS-336 and ES-330. I had to attenuate, but it really sounded nice when it was louder.
I like how the tone selector switch works differently from the Vox/Matchless to my ear: it cuts treble as you turn it clockwise instead of cutting bass as you turn the Matchless counter clockwise. I didn’t find a super happy sound on 1, but 2-5 had generous sweet spots with the 330 and 2-4 were great with the 336.
It may be hard to throw over the ZWreck and the Route 66, but this is really nice. It’s funny, I never was all that wild about humbuckers through the ZWreck until I ordered the Route 66, and then I gave it more of a chance and it worked great (the key is more volume.) Now I have three great Zs for HBs. All of my amps sound good with single coils.

DB4, Z-Wreck, and Route 66 - that's a great start of a Z collection!

Each of my last nine amps was going to be my last amp. Is that how you got where you are, Mike?
