Wow, took delivery of the Cure yesterday. Played it with my strat and that edge of overdrive thing is there in spades. Turn up the volume (gain) and used my strat knob to clean up and then go more 'full bore' - what a blast! The mid knob covers so much ground, you can make it sound nice and even or tube screamer-esque.
Switched over to the Les Paul. The boost pedal gives it some nice mid-thump but I was really shocked at how well it did when I plugged in a purple plexi in front. Great higher gain sound that retains the string definition. Was playing ZZ Top, David Grissom stuff and just couldn't stop smiling. Didn't expect to be able to get a convincing Marshall sound of this amp, but it's there with the right pedal, for sure.
Will spend the weekend trying out the loop (I have a Flint, a Dispatch Master and a Neo mini-vent that I'd like to hear going through it) as well as some different overdrives and various pedals in front - compressor, octave, vibe. But even with NO pedals at all - man, what a keeper. That level knob is brilliant. I was getting great sounds with the level at about 10:00. SO MUCH MORE volume on tap. This little guy gets so loud!
Thanks Dr. Z - I'm a believer!

Welcome to the Forum! A lot of great people and info here! Congrats on the Cure! If you like the Cure you should try the ZPlus! No wait, if you like Marshall-type sounds try the EMS... no, the Antidote, no the Remedy! Heck, try them all! Doc makes a great product and definitely stands by them!
