Hi,
Just bought a used 38 Senior, and I've got an issue. When I turn on the amp, it cuts in and out for about 30 seconds or less, then there's one final 'ping', and it's good to go. There's also a slight burning smell at the same time.
I say 'at home', because it hasn't yet happened anywhere else besides home, which is odd to me.
Anyway, I know without seeing the amp, etc., it's impossible to diagnose, but has anybody had a similar encounter?
Thanks.
NH

A slight burning smell is all too often an indication of imminent component failure. Before you run the amp any more take a look at Dr Z's troubleshooting tips. Hope you get it sorted out quickly. If you need to, send an email to repairs@drzamps.com. They are happy to service used Z amps.

Welcome to the Forum - a lot of great people and info here. Mike above is spot on - try the trouble shooting from Doc's site and if that doesn't work then drop Don at Dr. Z a note to see if he might have an idea.

Thanks, doctorice. Sounds like I should take it to my tech to be on the safe side.

"Cuts out w/ Burning odor"?
I thought this was going to be a thread about the headliner and backup band at a metal bar.
