Thanks Humbucker
For your quick Action replacing the UPS damaged AMP!!!! Glad I deal with you
Everything looked good enough from the outside. Other then the usually filthy box UPS always manages to deliver along with the usually small gashes . Upon opening the first thing I notice is the Z padding on top is all broken up. Enough that there's insulation fuzz all over the place. Next I discovered all the metal tube covers laying in the Bottom . Along with pieces of broken glass. So I start looking closer and see one of the strips that holds the back panel is loose. I didn't unscrew the panels so for all I know it may just fall off. It's obvious as the back boards rattle pretty easily . Based on the condition of everything and considering the Z padding is broken all the way around. I'm guessing it took a fall of the shelf or off a pile it was on top of. : Kind of a bummer. With a tube missing and nowhere local to get one . I can't even tell if it works . Who knows what else is wrong with the cabinet that would show up later. Hopefully I'm not stuck with it this way. Not blaming The Dealer . Just concerned because I took delivery that I may just be stuck with it as is. I honestly couldn't see big damage with the box. There's a gash but I wasn't concerned as it was just a surface gash. Plus I can''t remember ever getting a Box from UPS that didn't look like it laid on a floor full of dirt. Not a package you want to carry in the house to unpack. Took me 30 minutes to vacuum all the insulation off the amp . It was everywhere

Whenever that happens take a load of pictures and call UPS / notify the dealer right away and get a claim filed. The shipper should have it insured. What you describe is a fall (long one) off a conveyor. The impact blew away the expanded foam packing and the shock broke the tubes/covers and back panels loose. Almost guaranteed there's internal damage. How do the trannies look? All crooked ? Dangling?

Rick53, sorry to hear your amp got trashed. Brit is spot on, document everything. Hopefully it was a new amp from a well known Z dealer. Should be able to get it replaced. Good luck man.

My first thought after seeing how broken the padding was. Was wow Docs packing saved this amp. It wasn't until I emptied out the assoccories from the back that I noticed anything. I'm tempted to flip on the power while on standby to see if it works. I don't know enough about amps and broken tubes to know if that can create an issue. So I haven't. Plus the end of the broken tube is in the socket. I already emailed the dealer . So I'll just have to wait.

Absolutely don't turn it on with a broken tube in the socket. I'd give Don at Z repairs a call for advice on this one, and advise the dealer you bough it from. Don't do anything yourself. The amp's not going to work right now so please don't turn it on!

I haven't even tried to take out the tube. Since the back panel is loose I figure it needs fixing . It's brand New so I am hoping they'll just replace it. Doc can fix it :

Wow what a drag. The amount of damages have been on the increase from both UPS and FedEx. I'll do what ever I can but the shipper must initiate the claim, and process will crawl forward, sad to say.

That's great, I'm really happy that this looks like it's gonna end happily! Sorry to hear about the hassle but you're getting a new amp. Now you've just got to go through the waiting process again.

Glad to hear the dealer is taking care of this. Dealers that carry the Z line are usually reputable, good people that have their customer’s interests in the forefront of their minds. Humbucker is a prime example. Enjoy the new amp!

I am satisfied : Yes, Humbucker is a great Dealer to buy from. It is frustrating dealing with UPS. The AMp showed up just prior to dark. So even though it was obvious once unpacked that it wasn't right. The light of day revealed how hard the package must have fallen. The insulation in the bottom on one side was smashed flat as a pancake. The padded Top Z installs was broken all the way around. So whoever dropped it had to have had concerns, but let it go. It was shipped on Friday .
I once sold an amp to a Guy it Canada. Packaged it really good. UPS ran a forklift right thru one side to the other and still delivered the thing. They did pay my claim immediately. I also had a 335 I sold. Packaged really well. They broke it. On that claim they also paid. Initially though they rejected my claim because they said it was packaged to good so how could the damage be their fault. Took 3 months to get that one taken care of.
Personally knowing how well I pack and how well Docs amps are packed. If it's destined for damage . Nothing seems to prevent that from happening.
The bad thing with filing a claim stems from how many people get something delivered that's fine. In the process of unpacking they themselves drop it . Then turn around and file a claim blaming the shipping company. So over the years UPS hired an independent to handle their claims. Considering how rough of a time they give you. I assume they work on a bonus system to a degree. Like an insurance adjuster does.
