Has anyone tried a Celestion Gold in there to replace the black Z speaker?

I have a Z convo cab with a Gold in it and I have played the Lux at home with it. I think it sounds fantastic and I would gig with it with no problem. BUT I love the Z-12 in it more.

I play an outdoor street gig a few times a year and stack my 1x12 Lux (Z-12 speaker) upon an additional 1x12 Z Convertible Cab with a C-Gold in it. Even tho there's a bit of volume discrepancy between the 2 speakers, they sound great with the louder Gold on bottom. The Gold works very well w/ the Lux this way. I've never played just the Gold w/ the Lux alone, but I think it would work quite well! (Lux look familiar, Don? I had to replace it with another)

I, too, am an occasional tinkerer with the Z-Lux, and tried a Fat Jimmy C1270, which was supposed to be the bomb, in terms of recreating an old Jensen vibe. While it was good, the Z speaker was better, at least with the Z-Lux. The Good Doctor, himself, has commented that the amp was designed with an American voiced speaker in mind. However, by all means, tweak away, and report back!

Good luck with your adventures. That amp and speaker are a match made in heaven. Can’t imagine improving it. Still have yet to even approach my Lux with a screwdriver.

Maddog - How do you connect your external speaker cab to the Z-Lux? Thanks! I use a "Y" cable I got from Todd (high-quality cable maker on this forum).... his user name is pcns. Hook both 8ohm speakers to this parallel splitter, and plug the single end of the "Y" into the 4 ohm jack of your amp...Works perfectly!
