Asked this over in the M12 forum, but didn't get a lot of traffic, so...
I'm looking to make a stereo rig with my M12 and another amp that can keep up with the clean volume of the M12. Is that something the Z Plus can do? If not, got any alternatives for me?
Thanks, all!

I think the Cure would pair up nicely with an M12.
Voicing would be very different and should be able to stay clean with the M12.
The price point in the Cure is fantastic too!
My 2 cents, Todd

If you mean can it keep up volumewise, it can. If you mean will it stay as clean as the M12 at the same volume, probably not. The M12 breaks up really late and the Plus breaks up sooner, though you can control some of that with the volume control. That being said, why do you want to do a stereo rig with two clean amps? For me a stereo rig sounds better with a clean amp and another that has some breakup in it. How much depending on your taste. If it was me, I'd do a M 12 and Monza if you like EL 84s. The mix of the EL34s in the M 12 and the 6V6s in the Plus should be great too. You could back off the volume on the Plus to get cleaner sounds with that single ended magic with them. Not going to get much clean out of a Monza.

I want a complimentary sound, so I'm looking for something different from the M12. So no EF86 front end and no EL84 back end - got that covered!
The music I play is funky jazz, played mostly through my strat, and the sound is 90% squeaky clean, so I think that lets the Monza out, too. What I like about the M12 is that you can turn it up far enough so that when you hit it hard, it feels like it *might* break up, but doesn't quite. That's the sweet spot to me. When I get it sounding like that, my strat sounds like a piano, the sound's so deep...

Don't want to mess up a sale for Doc, but I don't think the Plus will get you there, but I like cleans with a little hair on them. Someone who likes those squeaky cleans may be able to dial it in. I would go with Todd's suggestion then and try a Cure. Wait, maybe that will get Doc a sale and I will be forgiven.

I'm pretty sure the doc will make out okay either way in this situation... :-)
Thanks for the advice. It's killing me - the clips I've heard of the Plus are so, so sweet, but if it won't do the job...

I played a plus last night. The clips don't lie, this is a great sounding amp and switch for going from "half" to "full" power is very cool. The reverb is very wet and over all tone was great. Really great.
We did not have a M12 to sit it next too but I was surprised how much volume we could get before it started to break up. The one I was playing (at jaguarguy's muZeum) had a blue in it. A different speaker may get you more headroom too.
Overall though, the amp did't break up as early as I thought it might and when it did, it sounded great but didn't over power the amp.
Its still hard to tell without a side by side.
for the record, I did play a Cure too, it was much louder before it broke up, also sounded stellar!!
