Thought I'd add this here to see if any of you have seen one? The Galaxie is obvious, but the blonde amp is, according to the good Dr., an Antidote prototype. One thing I've noticed about this one...it's very clean and VERY loud. Beautiful full tones. It has KT-66's in it now. But, there's a switch on the top/rear of chassis to drop in EL34's. It belongs to a customer that wants EL34's in it...so, I'll oblige and check/set bias as needed. My understanding is this belonged to David Holt when the Antidote was developed. Just a little tidbit of this amp titled
Antidote Prototype...
Enjoy the amp bling! BradM

Bahaha, and now that I've gleaned the Antidote posts, it was nice to see the same amp in action! Looks like many tame it with an attenuator as needed. Interesting, the amp reminds me of a 1972 Orange 120 watt head I had when I was 15 (bought that amp used for $150!).

I also have a Special Design - love it. While I was reading the OP, the first thing that went thru my mind was " A rare Z amp that Mike DOESN"T own??? " I should know better.

Well...hmmm...should we ask for photo verification? lol By the way...is that also pre-Antidote or some other model? I'm wondering how this amp would do with a PPIMV. I'll have it open for biasing a pair of EL34's in it...wouldn't be hard to tack in a Type 3 MV. I usually keep a couple PEC 1M, 2W pots handy just for those requests. BradM

BradM take a look at my avatar - that is part of my man cave There were six Special Designs made. Doc was originally thinking of making the Antidote with switchable KT66 and EL34s. I think it was the consensus that the KT66s were better fit for the amp so Doc went with them. Cut down on cost and complexity allowing for a simpler, higher quality product.

Yep, I'm flipping that switch this weekend. Haven't pulled the chassis yet. Will be curious to see 'the beginnings' ...will have to search out a current Antidote gut shot to compare. And, yes...I noted the profile pic! You must keep busy taking photos and listing those for homeowners insurance! (I just found a few years back how inexpensive that was really...for the protection you get.

I would love to get my hands on the SRZ-65 that Seth James used to use.

That is very close. The one I saw him with had a pearl looking Z and a full wood front.

I owned that amp. That is an Antidote Prototype that was used by David Holt for some time. Heard it Live a gazillion times, Great Sounding amp.
Had more or less traded David a Handwired Fender Vibroverb, one of the SRV clones that Fender made in around 2005
As good as it sounds live, and it's reported "put you big boy pants on" with this amp I thought it sound Killer clean at home volumes. Very underrated amp.

Why do you say that Antidote is similar?

Only in that you really had to push it to pull the best out of it!
