does the eq / boost mod do anything much different from a boost pedal say like a flying dragon? which boosts and adds a little dirt...

I suspect you could find and set up a boost pedal that could give mostly the same results as the eq bypass if you were on a mission to do so. But the cool thing about it is that it is removing circuitry from the signal path instead of adding it. Better results, less work

The variable boost pedal is brilliant. The mod adds breakup and what I'd describe as "rawness" to the core tone of the amp; and, as such, is much different from any boost I've ever heard. The knob on the pedal lets you dial in the amount from subtle to ranging.

I've done the mod to one of mine, it's pretty damn cool. Adds volume and gain.
