I did it again, walked off and left my Maz 8 on, in play mode, for about 35 or 40 hours. Except for extra hours on the tubes it's none the worse for the experience, and I can tell absolutely no difference in tone from before and after. I was a little concerned about the power tube being affected, but it didn't make a pinch of difference (Perry-supplied 6N14N). The amp didn't even get overly hot, no more so than a regular 2 or 3 hour gig. I love my Z amps. My old Fenders would have that "hot transformer" (like hot wax or varnish) smell after an overnighter like that. The chassis would feel over temp, it always made me nervous. Not so with my Maz.
Just a friendly public service announcement. Doc makes his amps to be used, not coddled. I love the way he builds his products as bullet proof as possible. He anticipates a possible failure before it happens and designs his amps to avoid that possibility.

I don't recall exactly who - but one of our forumites left a head on for a day or two ~ without a speaker cab plugged in ~ with no ill effects. It did get rather hot, but nothing expired. Do not try this at home kids

I though someone left their amp on with a studio slips cover on it for a long too.

That is a terrible feeling, not that I have left an amp on for that long, but it feels like you tortured your buddy. I think that it is the record amount of time for amps left on for this group, that I know about.

Wow! Good to know. I do remember member Phil had one on for days , if I remember correctly , one of his kids reached under the cover and turned it on. He found it on days later when he pulled the cover off as I recall. They are really built tough.

That’s one of the great things about an overbuilt amp, they can withstand quite a bit. And Perry’s 6a14n tubes are rated for something like 5k hours. Consider it a nice, controlled extended burn-in. Heck, it probably sounds better now than before. Happy New Year!
