As is often the case in the days leading up to the New Year, various entities reflect on people, events etc. of 2107. I thought it might be fun to share our favorite pedal acquisition(s) of 2017. Of course this could be expanded to guitars, amps, speakers, and more but I thought, "keep it manageable."
For me, it was the Mad Professor Simble. Not a new pedal on the market by any means, but one I had been eye-balling for quite a while. I finally pulled the trigger on a used one at GC as I knew I could easily return it should I not like it. I am quite pleased. All four dials interact with each other providing quite a wide palette of tones and textures. Supposedly a Dumble-esque pedal, I can't verify having never played a Dumble, but fun nonetheless. Second would be my Mooer Trelicopter, it's inexpensive on the used market and simply does what it's supposed to in a very compact footprint.

I spent most of the last 3 years getting my pedal board configured "perfectly." So I've not bought any new pedals in well-over a year.
What I did do tho, was ended up with too many pedals (mostly Strymon) that required 500ma, necessitating a new power source. I then bought a Strymon Zuma only to find I failed to real the fine print and it wouldn't fit on my pedal train II board. So I went back and bought a new board too.
So now it's all sitting in my studio in a pile waiting for a "tear-down" / rebuilding day....Should make for a great cold day/video project....

Well, I was kind of late to the party but I would have to say the Barber Gain Changer is the one pedal that continues to be a go to part of my tone. I just love the versatility and how most of the tones in it are totally usable. The other one might be the Basic Audio Scarab Deluxe. I built a clone that I love and just bought a factory made one on the BST page a few days ago. It should be here in a day or two and I'm anxious to see how close it sounds to the one that I cloned.

I picked up a Seafoam Lowtide that I really like as well as a DLS Rotospin. They are both fairly new pedals for me since I haven't been pleased with some of the purchases I've made in the last few years, but so far they appear to be keepers!

It's run by a digital relay system, so there is a slight lag when you engage it. That's my only gripe. I'm using both in a loop, one as a fattener, the other as a treble boost. If you wait, they usually go on sale for 15% to 20% off. I got both of mine when they were on sale.

Did you get your new amp? They're still going into the front of the amp, I just have them isolated in a loop controlled by a switcher so I can leave them on and not have to deal with the lag. Z Plus is on its way to Humbucker. Hoping I have it next week. Approaching 6 weeks now...

I play my Maz 8 every day and I can get any tone I'm looking for with my pedals, I am really enjoying that amp in my living room. The Z Plus should be fantastic! I'm sure you will become quite attached to that amp.

I added a cheap Vox wah to my board and dig it...I only use it on one or two songs. Also, I came full circle once again with a Paisley Drive. That's really it for pedals in 17.

As much as I like (and use) the Strymon drives acquired in 2017, the most interesting pedal for me in 2017 was the Stone Deaf Fig Fumb fuzz.
I sold more pedals in 2017 than I acquired. Well, one more sold than purchased. If I stop watching pedal demos on YouTube....

I went through a buttload of pedals this year--everything from a TC mini Mimiq doubler to a Line 6 Helix LT (which I returned--cool, but not THAT cool). I also revisited a bunch of pedals I'd tried before and sold--including the Strymon Timeline and Mobius. Ended up getting rid of most of it, and sticking with the tried and true--back to the El Capistan, Velvet Fuzz and Jetter GS-124 for my basic tones. So, up until Monday, I was pretty much back where Id started at the beginning of the year. Then on Christmas the beloved spouse gave me a Wampler Paisley Dog--which is going onto my gigging board, replacing the Velvet Fuzz, the GS-124, and my clean boost. Great pedal--might have to buy another one as a backup.

Good topic!
I'd say the Barber 1/2 Gainer (used) was my best pedal purchase this year. I bought quite a few this year, but that one has become part of my core sound now.

Humbucker let me know know mine is shipping out tomorrow! Can't wait to get this guy in my hands.

This is the year that I took all dirt pedals off my board. The Z-Wreck and the Z-Lux taught me that I don't really need dirt pedals. I find it hard to actually say that out loud, but it is true! But I did start using an old Visual Sound Visual Volume pedal and it has been great for live playing. It has become a must have pedal for me.

I think there's a tie between the RC2 and OCD for favorite pedals acquired this year. Both do their jobs well and keep it interesting when it comes to building the board out. Amp wise I'm super glad to have another Z-28 in the fold w the Zbest can to augment it's huge sound. My goal in 2018 is no new gear but more new licks and songs.

I still love my Z Drive, no changes needed in my OD catagory. I did make some changes on the "bells and whistles" side of my board. I added an Earth Quaker "Organizer" and a "Dispatch Master". Both sound okay and are very easy to use! Todd

Analogman Sun Face NKT red dot
Honorable mentions go to my third time around with the both the Timmy and the Menatone Red Snapper. Why did I sell these pedals not once, but twice years ago... Oh and they sound so good with Red Snapper into Timmy or Sun Face into Timmy or...
