Wondering if anyone has tried a Celestion Neo Creamback in the Z-Plus? It would drop around 4 pounds of weight compared to the G12M-65 Creamback or (roughly) the Z12--which is always nice--and from what I've read/viewed on videos it seems to be similar to the G12M-65 Creamback, although not identical. Of course online video is not a great substitute for listening directly to the real thing in a room, so I'm wondering if anyone has had the chance to try it? My Z-Plus was ordered with the G12M Creamback but I've also tried it with the neo Creamback. No one in the audience would be able to tell the difference, but the neo just didn't have quite the smoothness of the regular Creamback. For what it's worth, I also tried an Alnico Cream (very nice!) and am now running a Celestion Blue. I point the amp directly at my head and needed to install a beam blocker with the Blue. I'm sure I'll switch things around again and when I do it will most likely be the Alnico Cream.

I'll check it out.

I’ve had mine for a couple of days now and just put a Cream alnico in it. Awesome.
It came with the Blue which I like, but at least at home it’s too bright for me. Rolling off the cut knob helps but I feel like that needs to be engaged so I could barely turn it on before it got too much for my ears.
The Cream is smoother so I can roll up the cut a little higher than with the Blue to get the bright and open glory without tearing off my head.
Plus, the cream has more punch to it and takes the amp into a more Crazy Horse type of vibe.
Both great speakers for sure. I just think the Cream lets me open up the amp more. It definitely gives the cut knob more range.

I share an extension cabinet with the Ruby Alnico, I think it sounds great!

Haven't been on this forum for a while. But I thought I'd check in because on a whim I tried a Creamback G-12-M-65 in my Z Plus (Lite cab.)
For context, I dug the balanced sound of the stock Z12 in the amp but I tend to like Alnico speakers so tried several in the Plus, finally sticking with a Scumback Scumnico SC75 for more than a year. That speaker is something special in the amp, with great chime, sweet mids and nice little Alnico compression with a full bottom end.
But I gotta say, the Creamback really is as Doc advertised in this amp. It takes just a hair off the top end and adds plenty of bottom that stays firm -- and the mids are at a sweet spot that creates great cleans and great crunch. The sensitivity of the M65 is 97DB, while the Scumnico is 98DB, so that little drop allows me to get a little more out of the master knob at home volumes too.
It can be hard to explain, but the Creamback gives the amp a little more authority, more assertive with dirt for sure, but these somewhat throaty and sweet cleans too. Super musical and versatile. You can't go wrong with most any speaker in the Z Plus but the Creamback might end up being my favorite of all I've tried, especially as it breaks in a little more.
By the way, I was reminded how well built and engineered these amps are. It's such a breeze to change out a speaker, tubes, etc. if you're so inclined.

Anyone else tried a Ruby in the Plus?

I bet it would be great with the z-plus.
