been gasing for a Dr Z Amp for some time now. There are 2 Amps from the product line that really fit my taste: the EZG 50 and the Remedy. Unfortunately the Z Amps are quite a bit more cost-intensive here in Germany than in the Staates (Shipping, customs ect.). So i have been lurking in the 2nd hand market waiting for a Remedy or EZG 50 to pop up.
These specific models are rarely seen in the 2nd hand market over here, it seems nobody wants to part with them But last week a EZG 50 Head in blonde showed up, even very reasonable priced. I pulled the trigger an it arrived yesterday. I put it on my 2x12 cab, whose speakers would be a better fit for a Remedy (Eminence GB12), but i was none the less very impressed. Sure, full Honeymoon phase, but i am quite positve that this amp won´t leave my house anytime in the future.
I am in the market for 2 EV EVM12L speakers right now, would like to try them with the EZG 50.
"All that is left" is to aquire a Remedy and i got all my bases covered.
Thanks guys. I really enjoy the amp right now. It´s perfect with a Strat, but also very nice with my MIJ LP Junior (very snappy). The amp works well with the P90. Yesterday i bought 2 EVM12L Black Label out of ebay. Hopefully they will arrive before Chrismas...looking forward to them.
little update. The EVM 12L were an update (tonally) to the Eminence GB12, but i was still looking further. Long story short: i bought a Marshall Cab from the 80th, with 4x10 speakers. In this box were 3 WGS G10C and one WGS ET10. I replaced the ET10 and one G10C with two WGS G10A and put the speakers in a X pattern.
I can say i prefer the 4x10 box very much over the 2x12 box, which will be up for sale soon. It is more articulate and less bass heavy/muffled.
The Marshall box is a closed back. In the near future i will build a new back plate (open back). I can imagine that will further improve the box tonally.
GuitarZ: They say you should be on the same page about kids before you get married. I really think you ought to talk about expectations on outdoor Christmas/Holiday lights. That could have been a game changer.

GuitarZ: Arggh! We had it on the calendar to stop out and see you but got caught up with holiday stuff. I could have met you & Frank & my wife could have connected with her friend from back in grade school. You snooze you lose. The FB videos sound great!

GuitarZ: Why is it once you finally clean the junk off your work bench, within 5 minutes, you find yourself ready to deposit some other junk right back on to that now clean space?

rossco: the variable e.q bypass is great because while bypassed it you get the raw sound of the amp without the e.q and everything else attenuating the signal which sounds great and a because its variable on the foot switch you can dial in to taste, 1/2 way I like

rossco: you don't have to fully bypass the tone stack which is great because gives you room to dial in your sound, it certainly thickens up the sound and adds nice growl/midrange growl. I don't like pedals so this replaces everything for me

easyed: It seems that the only time I clean off my workbench is when I need the space for something else. If I don't take a break, it's less than 5 minutes before that space is full again.
