Right now I use the Radial JDX to hook up from my Maz 18 to the PA system. And so far it certainly works pretty well, except that it kinda dulls the tone a little in terms of losing the girth of the Maz 18, essentially rendering OD drives more on the fizzy size rather than being huge. Does the Two Notes Torpedo Captor do the job or is it essentially the same? What about the Riviera Rockcrusher series? Or the Weber minimass? I’m only using my Maz 18 in live uses (church worship services) so I’m not going to go huge on the distortion.

I've never been a fan of using line outs or direct boxes or speaker sims for electric guitar. If you're going that route, you might as well just go all in on digital. With a direct box, you're sending a raw, unfiltered signal straight from the pre or power amp, and losing the impact a 12" speaker has on tone, feel and response. No direct box or IR is going to fix that.
In your situation, I'd grab an attenuator and mic the cab, move to a less efficient speaker, or downsize to a lower wattage amp.

Frank nails it. I'd attenuate that amp and put a nice mic in front of it.

I had good results using a Palmer speaker simulator.

I tried a Red Box, a Palmer, and maybe something else that escapes my mind and used the weber as a load. I was able to apply digital EQs in the signal chain to tune up the tone and get semi-close in my home studio but was never happy at rehearsal where we're all headphones. The only thing that worked for me was my Randall Isolation Cab. Other folks here have had good success with the DI boxes going straight into the PA.

Good topic. I am using a Weber MiniMass and tried installing a Red Box as described in the manual: Max speaker output to Red Box, Red Box Thru output to the MiniMass, MiniMass to the Maz speaker, Red Box XLR out to the board mainly for monitor mix to the rest of the band. I found that the Maz speaker output was barely audible.
So I connected the speaker output to the MM, MM speaker out to the Maz speaker, MM line out to the Red Box, RB to board. But the sound in the board isn't as good as in the first configuration.

A friend of mine got one of these. He's a guy who I've worked with for years who really knows his sound and his gear and he said the thing is truly astounding. I have plenty of experience with the company as a user of their hardware and software. It really looks like an amazing product. UA is a very good company.

That UA Ox looks really sweet. $1299 at GC. It really does look beautiful, like they paid attention to the fine details. I wonder how it would compare to Friedman's Power Station? This looks more like a pure recording interface / power soak while the Power Station has a built in 50 watt tube amp. On my budget I'd still go with a great attenuator and mic the speaker.

Why would you run the Weber mini mass line out to the redbox then to the board? The line out from the MM can go to the board. I used to do this all the time with the old full sized mass years ago with zero issues.
