At my last fiddle lesson I noticed that my teacher had a tube metronome setting on her piano. I had never seen, or at least noticed, one of those before. It is a "Metronoma" manufactured by Crystalab. I have looked on ebay and I find several examples. Hers has a Bakelite case which places it somewhere in the 1950's I think and it is in pristine condition. She claims it has never been worked on and she demonstrated it for me. It works perfectly and she uses it frequently. Her young students are amused that it has to "warm up" not being used to tube-type equipment.

Since I've been into old tube amps and I have a collection of tube-type radios I couldn't resist buying one of these. I got one of the examples I found on Ebay. What a tube-technology junkie I am.

I love the old 50's bakelite tube electronics. That swirl is very cool. That was kind of rare if memory serves me.

Now you've done it, Z. I have to have one of these old Metronomas. There are a few up on ebay right now, so if any of you guys are wanting to make an offer or bid on one of them, let me know so we don't get into a bid war. There's just something about tube electronics that I absolutely love. I've got several old VTVMs (vacuum tube volt meter) on my electronics bench. They do certain things that the new DMMs can't do.

Yeah, I've got an Eico 232 on my bench also. It came with the original probe in great condition which, I believe, is somewhat rare.
