Hey fellow Z-fans,
So I was jamming with some fellas yesterday on my Dr Z Remedy. I think I have an earlier model, pre-MV and with the AC outlet on the back (serial T.27035). I was under the impression that this AC outlet was a convenience provided by the Doc to power your pedal board with. So I went ahead and plugged in my Voodoo Labs Pedal Power Plus 2 into it, and was running just two pedals: a EP Booster and a Hall of Fame reverb.
We're jamming, and suddenly I lose signal and the amp goes dead. Well, turns out the pedal power unit was fried (amp was fine). Smelled like fried electronics, and the unit was really hot to the touch.
Is it possible that using the AC out on the back of the Remedy instead of using a wall outlet fried my pedal power unit? Also, out of curiosity, why was the the AC outlet discontinued on the Remedy? FWIW, I was running the Remedy pretty hot (both volumes up to 2-3 o'clock) and using a Brakelite.
In other completely unrelated news, I couldn't be happier with the tone from this thing. Most of my pedals never see the light of day any more. Between the Brakelite, a booster, the occasional reverb and my volume knob, I have all the dynamics, dirt, and compression I could want. Other guys' rigs sound distant and muddy, and my amp is always present and in-your-face. Couldn't be happier.

My guess is that the problem wasn't the AC outlet. More likely a short in the power unit or one of the pedals, maybe cables, causing the unit to overheat and fry itself.

Yeah that Pedal Power died. Would have died no matter where you plugged it. There is no way it is in any way related to the AC jack on the Remedy, as that's identical to an extension cord.

Okay, good to know! I won't worry about plugging it back in there, then.
