Hello Folks,
Just picked up an RX ES 2x12 combo and am interested in adding a PPIMV, as it's a loud beast! What I am not interested in would be shipping the amp to OH. Is there any reason I couldn't just have a local tech take care of the mod? Is it just a basic LarMar style PPIMV?
Thanks!

Talk to the Z guys n Ship the chassis back to Doc, let them install it and go through it and get it tip top... you won't regret it... GREAT amp and a mod that makes it SO usable.

Have the Doc do the mod. As Jason said, you dont need to ship the entire cab, just the chassis. Its worth it! Todd

Understood. I just hate shipping amps, and live 30 miles from an amazing tech/builder (Pete Cage). Would be much more convenient to just have him do it, especially if it's a straightforward PPIMV.

Nate, if it were me I would open up the dialogue between Don in the shop and your tech. There is no reason your tech cannot perform the surgery. Don may be able to provide insight on the type of Pot to use and its value. I have also been confused by Dr. Z amps and the ability to use non-shielded wire on at least one of the PPIMV that I have seen. Maybe he would provide insight on that shielded wire configuration as well. Those are the two main questions that your guy will need answered. I am speaking in theoretical terms and cannot speak for Don, but I would bet that he has simple answers and you can get your work done locally. My 2 cents
