Ah, he's used to us by now When he's had enough he'll one of us under the bus again for only buying red amps Really I'm happy to see the excitement from you guys. Sometimes this old man get's a bit grumpy, you guys will see as you get older. I'm only 35 and I get grumpy. Can't wait to see what the future has in store for me!

It would be interesting to hear the difference between the Celestion Blue and the Z12 via the Z-Plus. Plus the Blue is rated at 100db, is the Z12 rated at something less than 100db? How much of a volume difference is noticeable between the 2 speakers? kc Z12 is rated at 99dB. There's not much difference in volume. Z12 will be for guys who want a smoother top end and little fuller bottom. The Blue is my preference.

WooHoo ...Z Plus has her own forum.
Question about speakers : if you wanted the amp to lean more to the "American voiced" 6V6 sound, would the Z12 be the preferred speaker ?

I suppose , slightly scooped and less Brilliant with the Z 12. But I must say the Blue really brings out the harmonics and sparkle the amp is capable of.

Geez, I was about to pull the cork on an M12 but now this has got my attention. Could do without the verb but am really looking for a great clean sounding amp for the small gigs I mostly do and home use, I wonder how M12 would compare with Z-plus as far as headroom at same volume level? I would definitely opt for studio combo w/ Blue. 52 and cranky as hell! He talks more about it the Z-plus here...

Talk about piling on!!!

This is going to be fun. I can't wait to hear a Z-Plus, Cure and MAZ 8 comparison.

I've actually reached out to my closest dealer to see the steps to get one...maybe They don't stock anything and may have to 'special order' one (translation....they want 100% upfront....which I never really want to do with any order) So...may take the plunge...to be continued.

Doc
Just wondering if the Z Plus will be similar to the Maz 8 and retain the effects loop, tone stack bypass, etc?

Hmmm....I haven't decided on a cabinet style, though. Leaning towards the traditional 112 'ultra-lite" cab.

Unless something changes...I'm 112 traditional cab (in ultra-lite)

I'll be using this backing up an acoustic guitarist/vocalist in a duo, so I would like to have that additional low end available. I would think the Blue in a studio cab would have as much low end as the Z12 in a traditional cab...
