Hi. First post here. New owner of a Maz Jr. Fantastic amp... love the versatility with the Variable boost eq bypass switch and a simple footswitch into the unused input.
Would love it if the variable boost switch had an LED indicator. Anyone mod theirs to add an LED?

Jamese,
Welcome!
There is a thread, I'm glad you brought it up, I have to do the same.
I will post the link when I find it.

I looked again without success. You tube has a number of video's regarding similar pedals. nicholas didn't you mod an older bypass pedal? Can you remember when the thread occurred?

Change the switch on the pedal to a DPDT (double pole double throw), and use it to turn on an LED. I just put an LED in one of my wah pedals and used a 10K ohm resistor in series with the LED (The value of the resistor depends on the LED used, use 4.7K for red), to the switch and to your 9 volt source. It draws way under 1 milliamp, which would last days or weeks on a battery. Or drill another hole and mount a power jack on the pedal so you could daisy chain it on your pedal board. You don't have to use a triple pole switch as shown, just a DPDT. Solder the existing boost wires to the terminals to the left of the ones used for the LED and you're all set. EDIT: The switch in my Z boost pedal was already a TPDT (triple pole double throw, just like the illustration below), so if he's still shipping with that switch, you're all set. Just use a pair of unused terminals to turn the LED on/off.

As great as the variable boost switch is, I am old and need a light, so I run all my EQs above noon and use a Boss 5L footswitch. That way, the boost is not too loud and I can tell when it is on.

I made a reverb/trem/boost all in one. Dave is spot on. The only thing I would add is to keep the 9v negative isolated from the rest of the circuit. Just adding an LED, with the LED connected just to the battery shouldn't create any issue. But if the pedal get a little more complex, here's a good link if adding an LED creates audiable popping.
