As most folks know, I got a Les Paul Standard last week and it's been great. I've never owned one before. It screamed through both my Carmen Ghia and Monza (haven't gotten the Maz Jrs out yet), but I struggled with the Cure. But, I'm happy to say, that I got that figured out! Get ready... I just had the Master too high. I've been running the Master at 3:00 with my single coil guitars, but the power of the LP was slamming the power section too hard. I moved the Master to 10:00, and BINGO! So, here are the current settings. The volume is up to get more overdrive on the lower strings. V: 3:30, T:12, M:12, B:1, MV:10, L: to taste. I will also say that Doc's speaker loves for more power to hit it. It I put the Level up to 12:00 plus, that speaker really delivers. Of course, it delivers anyway, but isn't there something about a amp cranked and moving the speaker more? It cranks out both vintage and modern Blues and classic Rock. And, at a reasonable volume too. I just love it!

Congrats on the new LP!
The Cure is an incredible amp but IMO you do need to spend some time dialing it in....which it sounds like you've done. I haven't tried my Cure with a LP, but I'm gonna give it a try with your settings.

Mike had his Cure at the mini Z fest in Michigan this year. I got to spend some time with it.(Thanks again Mike). Great little amp! It all sounded really good until I turn some knobbies and found some GREAT sweet spots. Several in fact! I got some killer tones with my Tele, Sp comp, and a Timmy pedal! Very cool little amp.

I'm still doing some tweaking, but I smile everytime I play through it.

That's cool, Russell! I'm taking my one-week-old Cure out to big band practice for the first time tonight, and I'll be playing my Firebird w/mini hums. It sounds great at home, I can't wait to get set up in a larger room. I'm going to try some of your settings, I have a lot to learn yet with this gem, I am sure.

I’ve been playing Stratocasters with my Cure, but this post made me plug in my Les Paul and wow, I was back in the sixties! Great stuff in there.

Pulled my Corsa-modded (Peter Green pickup arrangement) LP last night and cranked V and Master all the way up. Rocking good tone with the guitar knobs providing all the clean to mean tones. I'm going to try it with the eq bypass today -- after my wife goes out

^^^ It sure does I just spent 90 delightful minutes noodling around getting different sounds from pickup blend and guitar settings. Managed to practice a few songs too.

Mike, I dawned on me that I had not tried the Cure with both the Volume and Master Volume wide open. Wow! And when you engage that Tone by-pass, more Wow! There's a lot of overdrive in this amp. You kind of get into that Michael Burks territory with a Les Paul.

I finally got to try one of these today! Really fun amp. I would probably own one if my shop had gotten one in in February instead of now. I got the Maz JR and a silverface princeton instead and the cure just wasn’t different enough to justify owning all three. That level control really is something else though.
I did bring home a mini z to replace a marshall class 5, so I’m sitting pretty with the good doctor’s creations haha.

The Cure has "tweed-like" break up for sure. When I think about tweed amps, I always think about my Victory Deluxe that I had in the early 2000's. That amp sounded great until you turned it up too much and then the low end woud "fart out". Doc's amps NEVER do that! There is always tight low end in all his amps as they get turned up for overdrive. If you turn the Cure up wide open, you just have awesome overdrive! I mean, Marshally like. Turn the Volume down and get great cleans that the neck pickup on my Les Paul loves! I mean, Blackface like. Everyone should own one of these. You can't go wrong with it.
End of Promotion. lol

End of Promotion. lol I'm sure glad I got my Cure ticket punched. It's one amp that is going to stay with me until I can't play anymore! Doc called it an "Entry" amp, but to me it's so much more than that. It has an absolutely HUGE pallet of tone in it, and takes pedals very very well. Doc's creations just keep getting better and better. He's an amazing engineer and designer, with an ear for tone that is unmatched. My only complaint is that he's putting too many "Must Have" amplifiers out too quickly! Keep 'em coming Doc... End of Promotion V1.1

I'm still tweaking. Current settings: V:2:30, T:noon, M:noon, B:noon, MV:3, L to taste. My idea around the tone controls at noon was to try to keep the tone balanced when I hit the boost. I guess the reality here is that it almost doesn't matter where these tone knobs are since I keep getting good tone out this amp regardless of where they are.

The outdoor jam I’ve been attending moved indoors tonight. I’ve been using V=12, T=3, M=1:30, B=12, M=max, and L=12. Tonight, I just moved the Level to 9 and the Cure sang all night. Truth!
