I remember when I had my Maz 18 that there was a doc that had all sorts of settings. Does anyone know if these translate to the Maz 8? Is there a similar doc for the 8?

My guess is there is a resemblance, but with a different power amp section the dynamics may not translate the same. Maybe Mike (doctorice) will chime in - I think he has an 8 as well.

I had an 18 until recently. I've got an 8 now. I use basically the same settings EXCEPT I run the Bass control a lot higher, almost full up. That's in Pentode mode.

^^^^I agree with Z on the settings as well as the Bass setting, although I don't run the bass at full throttle. I really like using a clean boost to get a deeper fuller response.

I use the same settings as I do with my MAZ 38; Vol-full,Eq-noon, Cut-9:00/noon,Master to taste, and Reverb at 9:00. Pentode/Triode to the room.

The tone chart / settings document, which is available via the link in my signature below, is for the MAZ 18 specifically, but it can be a guide to the other MAZ amps, with adjustment.
I do have a MAZ 8 studio combo. Like zpilot, I tend to have bass set higher on the 8 than the 18. Another difference that affects the similarity or lack thereof between my MAZ siblings is that the 18 is a 2x10 (Z 10s) and the 8 has a 12" Cel Blue. Very different to my ears.

Thanks doctorice! I remember the chart was really helpful with my Maz 18. I figure it should point me in the right directions.

I regularly go back and forth between the two and usually run bass a little higher on the 8 as well. The main difference, however, is how I set my pedals... the 8 has less headroom so if your pedals boost bass too much, especially with the amp's bass open already, they're going to push it further into saturation than they would the 18. So I just cut the bass on my pedals...
