So I bought a wreck combo used a few months ago. I've played about 10 gigs with it so far, and notice toward the end of our third set it starts to sound a little "fizzy". Really the best was to describe it I suppose. I've combated this by turning the amp completely off in between sets to let the tubes cool down, seems to work. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? If so, any one know exactly what's going on? Maybe time for new tubes?

I have been gigging my Z-Wreck for about 4 months and have done about 15 shows with her and I have not experienced anything like that. The first thing I did, since I bought it used, was get a fresh set of the Russian tubes from Perryr here on the forum. The amp didn't need new tubes, but since it was used, I wanted to have some kind of reference point for it.
How loud are you running it? "Fizziness" for me happens on amps when I am really cranking them into serious natural overdrive and then hit it with a boost or more drive. Could that be what is going on?

I run it at about 9-10 ocklock with a break light on 1 click.I use a j rocket archer for overdrive. Like I said this fizz type sound only happens toward the end of the night. First couple hours it's warm creamy and punchy, just a wonderful sound. Like I said turning the amp off to cool down in between sets seems to stop it, so I'm not too concerned just curious.

It's certainly not worth taking a chance with old power tubes.
I have an Orange VT-1000 tube tester so I can check the life of a tube.
But if a worn out tube goes it can take other things with it.
If they have some miles on them, change them.

Too much heat build up in the amp. Every componant is rated to operate in spec up to a certain temperature. When the temp gets too high the components drift. Also affects the transformers. I never leave my amp on when not in use and also have a small fan on the power transformer that will circulate air around the tubes. My maz 38 came with a fan. I used to have this problem until I started moving some air in my amps.
