Recently acquired a RED MONZA head (because red sounds better, of course!). As I've always had combo amps (besides my JCM 800 100 watt mega beast) I've been using my Maz 18 combo as a cabinet while I research cabinets. The Maz has the G12H 30 Anniversary speaker in it, which I like for the most part with the Monza. As a matter of getting a gauge on tone comparison, I've asked this question over at the Monza group, but thought I'd ask it here as it is more in line with this group:

- Using the Maz combo as a speaker cabinet vs using a dedicated cabinet like the Convertible Z 112 -- Is there a difference in the way a dedicated cabinet like the convertible behaves vs the way a combo amp behaves as far as tone goes. Like if one were to A/B them with the same speaker, etc. would they in theory behave the same? Or does the fact that the combo has the "amp" in it affect the tone?
- Haven't asked this one but was wondering: I've been doing a lot of research on cabinets (price, build quality, type of wood, visual appearance, materials used, feel, and of course tone.). Most cabinet makers explain their built process, materials used, wood used, etc. I wasn't able to find this kind of information about the Z cabinets. Does anyone know if Dr Z makes the cabinets in house (I assume so), or does he source them out. And what about other specs like I've mentioned (type of wood, joint process, etc.)? Sure would be nice to know what one gets for the cost output. And for the record I'm highly leaning towards the Z convertible to match my Monza head, both in fit/finish and TONE!
Thanks guys!
