Not sure if this is breaking rules (I didn't see anything in the code of conduct), but I do have some at my reverb shop. They are GE triple mica 6201 with Telefunken labels and boxes. Cool seeing T-Funk label on a GE tube.. and they have the 6201 etch: GE / T-Funk 12AT7

OK, I see from those photos what you are referring to about the etched numbers. Those are obviously done at the factory and pretty common markings. Not what I have seen recently on some tubes that were an attempt at re-branding. I've gotten really skeptical about buying NOS tubes lately. I stick with vendors I've done business with previously. By the way, I've had a couple of good transactions with perryr. Besides the 6p14p that he has sold to a lot of forum members I snagged a really nice 5AR4 from him at a good price.

Would the Jan Philips 12AT7 WC be a good replacement for the 6201? My Z Lux came with this tube in it so I just wanted to know if I’m getting the maximum results of my Reverb with this tube. Thanks.

Ran into this post after asking my own similar question under the Z-Lux forum. It does seem like there are some military quality (e.g., JAN) 12AT7’s out there, and the TubeStore folks are presently offering the JAN-Philips 12AT7WC tubes as part of their “stock” set for the Z-Lux. The pricier Mullard 12AT7WA’s (not the reissue) also look well-reviewed but I don’t know if they meet Dr Z’s expectations for the V3 slot.

Has anyone tried the new production tung sol 6201? Wondering how they hold up against their NOS counterparts, specifically in V3 of the Z-lux.
