Hi there good people,
I was wondering if anyone tried a combo of a Celestion Gold and a H30 in their Z Best. The amp is a Route 66. Does this combo put more emphasis on the high treble of the cab?
Thanks!!

DC here! I cant answer your question directly - BUT I would NOT recommend that! The Z-best is - if I have understood it correctly a horn - maybe bass reflex - some kind of tuned enclosure. IF you change out one of the speakers in such an enclosure - you will be in fact changing the the - Thiele small signal parameters - for which the enclosure was designed! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thiele/Small_parameterssound.whsites.net/tsp.htmwww.mh-audio.nl/downloads/read-measuring-tsp.pdfAbove is reading enough to give you nightmares - lols With - perhaps unpredictable results - Bassreflex, transmission line, horn loaded enclosures - etc etc are used to control: 1) The frequency response of the speakers 2) The impedance variations in various frequencies 3) The travel of the speaker cone 4) The db ratings at different frequencies There is other factors as well! You should really ask Doc himself about this - he can give the low down on the Z-Best cab. Cheers: Dixiechicken!

I don't know if I'd recommend the G12H + Gold together in a 2x12. Seems like it'd be a good idea because they're both decent/popular speakers... However, they're both largely the same profile (loud, big lows, scooped-ish mids, and brighter highs) and I don't know that they'd necessarily "complement" each other much at all.
Also, the higher-power-rated (but more expensive) Gold isn't gaining you too much, because you're still limited in power-handling by the lower-rated 30W G12H.
