Anybody use either of these cabs with their Therapy head? Wondering which would be better? What would be the differences?
Thanks!

I've checked out the backlines and think their pretty cool. If it were me getting a backline for the Therapy I'd opt for the 2X12. I just like that setup better than the 4X10 for what I play.
When I was new to the Z world and new to shopping for Dr. Z amps I bought bought the oval open back 2X12 to go with my amps. This was befor the backline. I still have mine and it never ever gets used. I've found that my computer 1X12 convertible cabs go perfect with my Ghia and with my Therapy. Because Z's are LOUD amps I find much more control in band situations with a single 12. The single is also much easier than hauling my heavy 2X12. Matter of fact, I'm on a quest to get a 1X10 greenback Z cab to pair with my Ghia so I can enjoy those powerful 18 watts a little more. Just waiting to sell my 2X12 first.
If it's a 2X12 or 4X10 your after then I vote that you get one of those two cabs. If you don't buy a bigger cab now your probably always gonna have gas for one. If your band is big and loud enough and you have no "it's too loud" complainers in the band to worry about then you will be fine. Good luck!

I would like to but have not had the chance. I would go with a 2x12.

I currently have a Carvin 4x12, I need to open it up and see what speakers are in it but I don't think they are vintage thirties. Most likely they are G12k-85's. I don't love the sound of the the Therapy with the Carvin cab. I find it harsh in the upper mids and stiff sounding. Not sweet at all. I also have a 4x8 vox cab that came with my pathfinder SMR15 mini stack. It's loaded with Vox Bulldog speakers which I believe are made by Celestion. The Therapy sounds surprisingly really good though this cab. It's closed back and has a nice tight bass response with a punchy midrange that sounds great. From my understanding 4 8" speakers are similar in surface area to one 12", slightly larger I believe. I have another 4x12 Yamaha cab that has been in the attic, I could try that out as well. If I remember correctly that has extremely high wattage speakers closer to PA speakers. So doubt that will get me closer. I guess the fact that I am preferring the 4x8 over the 4x12 is making me wonder if I would prefer the 10" speakers over the 12". But it could just be the type of 12" speakers that I have. A 1x12 like you suggested might be worth trying out too.

I was like you and tried to read them all and determine which cab / speaker combo to buy because I didn't want to buy something and be back in the market for another cab because I didn't like what I bought. I'm not made of money lol. I got a wild hair, took a gamble and bought the Z convertible 1X12 with the Creamback 65 for my Therapy. After less than a minute I knew I loved this cab and speaker! So much that a month later I bought another one to use when playing out with my Ghia. I'm not sure why the Creamback doesn't get more praise than it does. To my ears the Creamback is not cabable of being harsh. So smooth!

I always want a bigger cab....4x10 or 2x12 but in the end I've only needed the 1x12. I think a 4x10 would be a bit harsh with the Z10's. They seem bright and stiff. 12" speakers or a 15" would be what the Therapy inspired in me.
To soften the stiffness of the response you could try JJ6V6 which add a little sag and compression but cut the overall watts a bit.
Just think how much easier it is to swamp 1 speaker vs 2-4 when looking for the right fit.

I didn't mic it and had no problem with being being heard or cutting through a heavy handed drummer. I even found myself too loud on a couple of occasions. The tone was absolutely incredible, which inspired me to play much better than bedroom practice on my own.

The Therapy made his eyes pop! I was smiling from then on knowing I wouldn't be left in the corner. Some bands are more like a wrestling match between brothers.....having the upper hand is like being the big brother. I like to show the mercy not wait for it .
