First was a jam type setting with has some good players and just enough to keep good tight grooves. This was at a private party with about 75 people. Really cool place with a performance/stage on a fair amount of land. Usually these things are filled with bluegrass/Americana musicians from bands around town. I usually bring a acoustic and a lap steel to these events but they keep a small drum kit and the drummer in my band was going. So I grabbed a tele, the cure, and a WET reverb pedal that I left in the loop. To my surprise there was a really good keyboardist and a bass player set up when I arrived. Both I have known for some time but never really had a chance to jam with. Long story short great jam with the four of us playing about an hour and half. Cure was dynomite! Perfect with just some verb and the tele. Couple weeks later I ran into the owner who said it was the best music they ever had there.
The other setting was paying gig with the band at a great place big stage and had about 300 people. Popular Brewery with a great performance space that we've been playing for years. I brought a full pedal board, 335, SG (P90), and i usually bring a Therapy or a 68 SR but it was Cure time! I played the 335 for the first set and for the first time just couldn't find a happy place. So second set I went with the SG and immediately found my happy place😊! But in this setting I was missing the authority of a Therapy and will probably go back to it for that venue. Granted, this is a rock band in a loud place and because of the people there we were able turn up pretty loud that night. I liked the tone I was getting from the Cure but I needed more "Oomph". Which now has renewed my GAS for a Z-Lux😐.
Settings for both were V between 9 and 11, T 12, M 9, B 11, M full open, L to taste.
