So, this past Saturday night....my trio was playing our second time at a great place we're hoping to land a monthly rotation spot. During sound check, my Maz Jr. starts making a low crackling noise, even when I unplugged my signal chain from it. Kinda' nervous about it, I called my wife who had just left the house to come out to the gig and convinced her to turn around and go grab my little Vox AC10c1, just in case! Third chord of second song, Maz goes silent...........Sound tech buddy of mine in the audience flies to her car, grabs Vox, and we resume song 2 within 10 minutes. Thankful for wife, friend and Vox- Show went great from that point on! Now, back in my studio with my Maz, plugged in....still crackling with no output. Any thoughts? Output tubes and Rectifier tube all appear to be glowing consistently....... I NEED MY MAZ Jr. BACK!!!!

Do you have spare tubes to troubleshoot with? A number of people have posted Doc's troubleshooting procedure on the Forum and you can find it by doing a search. Even though the tubes are glowing one could still have failed. I'm guessing a power tube failure.

OK, so the good folks at Dr.Z Repair were very diligent in responding to my emails, gave me several avenues to troubleshoot, and pinpointed the problem to the cap that goes across pins 6 and 8 on the V1 tube socket. Quick and easy repair, up and running and have gigged with the amp successfully ever since (with a small backup amp in tow.....). Can't say enough about the excellent customer service I have received from Dr.Z the couple of times I've needed it. GREAT TONE + GREAT SERVICE = Dr.Z fan for life!

That's why many of us here own "several" Dr. Z. Amps!

When you buy a Dr. Z amp, you get a lot more than an amp.
