Hi Folks - Has anyone out there tried using a WGS ET-65 speaker in Maz Jr (combo)? Any comparisons to the stock Celestion G12H30? For what it's worth, I am almost always playing humbucker gtrs. (335 / LP)

It's going to sound a whole lot different.
The G12H has big firm lows, and crispy highs...all at the expense of mids. The mids are recessed. To me, it's a good recording speaker, or one for playing alone, but for playing in a band, I really don't like it. I need mids for band playing.
The 65 has a lot more mids and less bass and treble. The dust cover is really big, so that helps for people who think their amp has too much crispy fizzy high end. For humbuckers, I'd really prefer this speaker over the H.

I'll get back to you soon - putting one in next week. I haven't tried it in a 18, but I had one in a V-Boutique open back cab, and it sounded huge with my Maz38.

Like John says, the G12H-30 and the ET65 (a G12-65 clone) will be noticeably different, due to the size difference of their magnets and dustcaps.
I have indeed tried both speakers at different times with my MAZ 18 Jr. Personally, I think the ET65 is a stellar speaker in practically every application I've tried it in, so yeah I'd say it'll sound good. Whether you like the drastic difference after using the G12H-30 is up to you, though. I'd try it.

Not to completely derail the thread, but have any of you compared the ET-65 vs Doc's Z-12 in a Maz 18NR?

The Et-65 is awesome! I use that in a 1X12 (also use a 2x12 with a celestion gold/g12h30 pair with my Maz nr head). The wgs has more low end and smooth mids than the g12 (I originally had the g12 in the 1x12) but is really balanced overall. Between those two cabs I Haven't looked back. Great speaker with the Maz.

I play low output humbuckers and prefer the 65 over anything. However, playing in a band mix could require a more mid driven speaker. Enjoy that Maz!

I am trying out the Z12 with my NR now at church in a 1-12 cab, two clicks on brake lite, settings about 2 on master and 11 on vol. Slightly different from the C-Gold I was using for last few years. Like it so far, but not sure it is all the way broken in. Celestion Gold was really nice though, and may go back to that in a few months.

Initially I was on the fence with the ET65, but once I got past the G12H30 (which is nice for recording by itself - but not so great for playing live) more and more I am loving' the WGS for its overall balance.

Like it. A lot. When my Green Back dies, the ET will be the replacement.

In my 212 combo cab I’m thinking of the Et65 and the Veteran 30. Wondering what to expect as it now has two Celestion g12t-75’s in there

Suppose to be "the combo" for wgs speakers mark...so...I originally wanted to to try one (et 65) in my old reg cab maz 18 but couldn't move it... so I left it alone/eventually sold it...
I had a gnarly night one jam and I said fack it...did it next morning and popped right out of studio cab...now got both w/et 65 and not lookin back... the newer speaker/nr amp sounding real goodly.

Just food for thought:
I have an ET65 and a 12cs in my 2x12 cabinet; it is a pretty well-balanced sound.

It's been a few months now with the ET65. No going back. Its been fantastic especially with my Heritage 535 which has become my main guitar. So, what to do with the G12H30..? I might try sticking in a 5E3 amp I've got.

I put my ET-65 into my Maz 18NR a couple of weeks ago and I love it. It really changes the flavor of the amp, smoothed out the top end without taking away the chime, has a nice tight bottom end and the mids cut through just right. Really dig this speaker.

How does the ET65 compare to a Creamback M? I'm using the CB exclusively these days, but that WGS intrigues me.

When I talked to wgs I told him between the 3 speakers Invader 50 (creamback equiv),et 65,vetran 30....which one...I told him im on the look for there creamback equivalent..."go et 65...its a more versatile speaker"...they are cheap enough to try and roll if it doesn't work.
The et 65 is working out live were I did struggle sometimes with the g12h...Its got a more American tone than brit...maybe half/half....nothing cheap about the tone of this speaker though...its the real deal.

I do like the Creamback and I'm happy to stick with it, though I will try that ET65 sometime....just curious:)

I'm happy, very happy with the cream back M in my cab for my Maz 18, but I still wonder about the ET-65. One of these days I'll try my Maz with my Blue, If I can ever stop playing my Stangray through it!

Not sold on the gold yet, but it may need breaking in more. The blue sounded great in the Maz. I can see how taming some high end with the et-65 could be nice but haven’t felt the need yet.

(They're supposed to be) The top end isn’t as sweet. Bit harsh sounding. I changed the V1 tube to something darker and that helped a lot. I’ve heard these can take a long time to break in.
