I'm excited to be very excited about a Cure headed my way. Ever since I read the first descriptions of this amp I've really wanted to hear one. I have to add that some of the early 'complaints' about it made me, as an actual gigging & recording musician, want one even more! I'm excited about the level control and the new lightweight cabinet but even more so about the Triad Transformer.

I just don't see how any guitar player could not like this little amp. I gigged mine for the first time last night and was more than happy. I said it in another thread, the Cure has soul!

Congrats on scoring what is probably the best pairing for your Ghia, to take out on The Yayhoos reunion tour this Summer.
I, for one, plan on making the show at Eddie's in Georgia 8/15. Kaint wait!!

Congrats you wont be disappointed its lightweight. Guitar in one hand amp in the other. Walk into your gig walk out. Oh yea and you will be smiling afterwards as well. It packs a mean punch.

Looking forward to your comments.

You are going to love it. There's a chance it will overtake the Ghia as your top choice for one-amp gigs where size and weight are limiting factors.

Got it. Headed to the studio via Uber in a few. Will report back after firing it up. I've got Surreal McCoy here with me to test it out.

We have decided the Level control is the craziest thing possible. It works just like you think it could?!?!?

Surreal McCoy at my studio yesterday w the Cure doing some songwriting demos. Really enjoyed playing the amp. We used it for some clean stuff with the Stonetree Tele and some dirtier stuff with the LP Special. Even did a bass overdub with it. It's really something. You can really hear the 6V6 sound. It's got more sparkle than the Z-28. Lighter than the MAZ 8. None more black!

Hey Eric,
I know someone posted some recordded comparisons a while back, but I'd be interested in your thoughts on the Cure vs. the Maz 8.

Hey Eric, I know someone posted some recordded comparisons a while back, but I'd be interested in your thoughts on the Cure vs. the Maz 8. Mark I've been super busy since I got the amp. I can say that between the 8 and the Cure you really hear the difference in those power tubes EL84 sound vs 6V6 sound. The 8 has tons of tones in it between Pentode/Triode, the pre-amp and the power tube but I don't think there's anything in the entire Z line that can do what the Cure's Level control can do as far as changing the overall output without changing the sound. I haven't played a gig with the Cure yet but at 15 Z watts the output is more robust and competitive than that of the 8. I do really love the EL84 sound so my Maz 8 won't be going anywhere for sure. That said I'm looking forward to messing with the Cure more. The level control works so good I may just be able to plug it in at home!

And it's a bit less weight than a 1x10 Ghia and a MAZ 8 in studio cab. I suppose the Ghia with Red Fang might be slightly louder at the limit.

I think Doc posted somewhere that the actual output of the Cure is really about 19 watts and he rated it lower because of the fact that it came in under 20 watts. I have gigged with mine and have to say that it sounds to me like a 20 watt amp. And with the 6V6 tubes as you stated it really even sounds bigger in IHMO. That level control is awesome.

Dang ! that's a cool rig. Tons of tone with a small footprint. I'd love to hear you put that set up through it's paces. Best of luck at the gig.

Amp worked out great last night. Our bass player couldn't make it (he's playing this week in the midwest with Lynyrd Skynyrd) so we did acoustic guitar, electric guitar and cajon. It's a PA on a stick singer songwriter type gig for an artist I've worked with for a long time. I had the delay, tremolo and reverb on the whole time. Never hit the boost in this situation. The level control really worked like a charm as far as dialing things in goes. While I was playing I was thinking about my history with amps, so many Bassmans & Deluxes but it's been years since I've really relied on anything but an EL-84 amp. The 6V6 response is different for sure. The amp, even with a brand new speaker, sounded great. I guess it's a different approach from the Ghia? It sure worked great for the quiet gig/no drums. My next few gigs are fly gigs so It'll be a couple weeks before I can really light it up with the band.

It's a PA on a stick singer songwriter type gig I like that....it's appropriately descriptive.
