I'm perfectly happy with the stock Z12, but as I get older I'm always trying to get lighter :-)

I completely agree with your sentiment, and then some, believe me.
But keep in mind the Z 12" speaker is pretty light to begin with; I'm not positive but I think around 7 pounds. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Since the average 12" Neo speaker weighs around 4 to 4.5 pounds you may not save a whole lot. But I've done worse things for 3 pounds savings so I get it.
But I do know that if I were going to do it, the Emi Lil' Texas would be the first thing I'd try. I have one in a Vintage Sound VS112P and it sounds great.

The new celestion creamback neo looks good. If it's in the vein of an H or M style I would go that way. I also really liked the old green Jensen neo with fenders but it was by no means forgiving (think JBL)
