Hi I had to to replace/clean the 12ax7 V3 over the weekend, and i noticed that V4 was slightly microphonic. DRZ manual says V4 'must be replaced with NOS 6201, NOT a production 12AT7' ..
whats the reason/rationale behind this does anyone know?
Thanks Steve

Thanks Steve Well Steve ,in the Z Lux V3 is a 12AT7 reverb driver not V4. We specify a NOS 12AT7 in the modified Z Reverb circuit of the Z Lux do it's better performance, and that a JJ 12AT7 or other currant production 12AT7's don't cut the mustard and generate a slight HUM. Fortunately NOS 12AT7's are still relatively cheap and plentiful. I would stock up on a few if you plan on playing that amp for a long time. Get them from a reputable source.

What zpilot says. I put a NOS 12AT7 in a MAZ, similar front end circuit to Z-Lux, to replace a bad current production tube. Made a world of difference.
