Hi y'all !! i've got a question for you. i'll hopefully be initiated with the DR Z amps soon as i'm thinking about getting a Maz 38 Sr. Now,my question... i'll not be able to get a cab for it ,cause i don't have my own car and i'll have to carry it around with tube and trains. Did anyone ever tried it through a marshall cab? does the tone lose those own brilliant features? Also... how loud is that? i've been reading about it a lot,and everyone says it's a very loud amp. Would that be enough for a stage/rehearsals scenarios with two guitarist playing? These two question has kept me from getting it so far...But i just got a very good offer (a guy wants to exchange that for my Marshall JMP,which unfortunately i can't use in my band). any help is very appreciated. Thanks.

Just do it đź‘Ť There will be no problems keeping up with another guitarist. Take a look at some of Buddy Whittington's stuff with John Mayall - no issues there!

Welcome to the forum! As Mike stated, Buddy used a Maz 38 NR through a Z Best cab for the larger dates with Mayall - closed back like the Marshall. The choice of speakers will obviously affect the brightness but you could compensate for that by using the cut nob on the Maz.
Let us know how it sounds!

I've run a Maz18 through a 4x12 marshall cab, and a 2x12 Mojave cab - both sounded excellent! I'd bet that the 38 Sr sounds fantastic through any quality cab!

for the last couple of years i have run my 38 first thru an AirBrake then a Y cable to the internal 12" and onwards to a repurposed Marshall cab with 2x10" Celestial Golds. i use the 16 ohm output on the amp. The Airbrake essentially isolates the amp from the speaker load so their are no impedance mismatch issues. It screams.

I run my Maz Sr into a '72 Marshall 4x12 loaded with Greenbacks on top and V30's on the bottom and love it.

You will never have any problems with the Maz Sr keeping up with other guitarists! I've gigged mine for probably 7 or 8 years now, albeit in a trio, and it will fit any venue volume wise. There have only ever been a couple of times when I haven't used my Airbrake. Some may say why not get a Jr instead, but to me the Sr sounds bigger, smoother and just more big boned. That's not to say I may not get a Jr as well someday!
The only problem I can see for you is I don't envy anyone trying to transport a Marshall cab on public transport....
