What's the difference between the 1X10 dual cab and the regular Z 1X10 cab? Also, I saw on Humbucker that the duel cab can be be adjusted to attach to a head, basically turning it in to a combo? Can somebody please enlighten me?

Can somebody please enlighten me? Shane, The regular 1 x 10 is just a very nice speaker cabinet. The dual 1 x 10 is about 3 inches taller to accommodate an amp conversion to make it a 1 x 10 combo. I believe john had one with a Ghia involved in it.

Can somebody please enlighten me? The Dr. Z 1x10 Dual Speaker Cab appears to be the previous 1x10 Speaker Cab design/generation. The top of that cab is pre-drilled to accept ‘small-head-chassis-mounting-bolts’, as loosely described in the product description, on the Humbucker website. ‘Dual Speaker Cab’ also appears to be a ‘New Name’ for that cab. Perhaps it’s a fresh marketing scheme to sell old inventory— I don’t really know—just a guess. Surely, an e-mail to Humbucker will provide more clarity than my ‘shot-in-the-dark’ assumptions. In my personal view, it is/was an unattractive, though versatile design concept. I have one that received a new-model grill last summer (2016). Please note that the dimensions of both speaker cabs are identical, despite occasional typos, on both the Dr. Z, and Humbucker websites—lots of copying and pasting going on, with subpar editing, all over the internet. Before the current 1x10 design was introduced (a couple yrs. ago—ballpark estimate) the Dr. Z website had fairly detailed instructions for those wanting to make the speaker cab/head, to combo, and/or, vice versa, conversion. Abandoning support for the previous, flexible design concept is a strong indicator of obsolescence. As far as I can tell the pre-drilled holes in the top of the cab, and the short, combo cab grill are the only differences between the two. I really hate to see such a cool concept go south.

I've got a couple of them and love them. They are in fact the same size as the newer non-convertible cabs. I too thought they had been discontinued, but since I got one in a newer color scheme (blackout) not so long ago I'm no longer sure that's true. Plus, they appear to have a new name-"Dual". In the past they were just called "Convertible". I'm guessing maybe they were discontinued but later brought back. Just a guess though. I personally don't think they look so bad when used in the non-combo mode, but that's just me.

Thanks 2Cents.
I've been on a minor blackout binge lately for some reason and sort of like it myself.
By the way, welcome aboard. I'm already enjoying your thoughtful posts.
